    Oil Filters

Of course the pics don’t say much about the quality of the paper being used but they do show the amount of the pleats. I’ve been using Purolater for years now and never had a problem. I used Fram in my old F150 with the inline 6 and had a lower end knock on start up. Found that the check...

Bob. Thanks. Where can I get that pump??!!

    Fuel pump issue

Ok. I have 3/8" line coming from my gas tank and the stock pump has a 1/4" inlet and outlet. And a 3/8" line going to the carb. That's were I'm getting into adapting line sizes. I bought a 3/8" braided line kit to clean things up but the threads on the outlet of a mopar pump is not a standard...

    Fuel pump issue

Ok. My tube bending stacks up to the best of them. But I need to know where is the best place to mount the pump below the gas tank. I have a Holley red and in it's directions they want it mounted below the lowest part of the tank. Or would another pump work better.

    Fuel pump issue

I would like to get away from the mechanical fuel pump on my small block. I have to use too many adaptors to reduce from a 3/8 fuel line to ¼ in and back out of the pump and then up to the carb. A lot of hoses and clamps, looks sloppy. I looked at an electric pump but it suggests that the...

    Correct Oil Filter for SB

This is great. I’m having the same low oil pressure problem with my 318. I had lifter noise on the right bank and presumed it was caused by low psi. I installed a HV pump, but that made no difference. I’ve pulled my motor out and found that the caps in the front lifter gallies are missing...

    Wrist pin Noise?

Well, I was going to start on the bodywork this summer, so the car won’t get driven too much anyway. I’ll use that time to get a second and third opinion. And if needed find a new block and pull the motor over the winter. Thank for the info. You’ve all been a great help.

    bigblockdart.com is a joke

I've Always used their tech page and links. I've e-mailed them a few time and gotten a good reply. Even about small blocks. I do think forabodiesonly has a better forum, as does moparstyle. Oh well, better luck next time.

    Wrist pin Noise?

This engine is out of a 74 Barracuda. I bought the car as a donor car for a 66 Barracuda I’m working on. The guy I bought it from said the engine had been rebuilt. I tore it down to the short block, I could still see the berry ball marks in the cylinders so I put it back together. With the...

    Wrist pin Noise?

Sanguine. OK. I removed all the plug wires, one at a time, and the noise did not leave. Is there a test for piston slap? Or is it a prosess of elimanation?

    Wrist pin Noise?

But that noise would not go away when the engine reached temp would it? Was the noise always there?

    Wrist pin Noise?

Does this noise also go away when the plug wire is removed? I almost don't what to know, but what is the cure for piston slap. This would make sense, this 318 was bored over .40. The engine had around 2000 miles on it when I got it. And I got it in and running last summer and I have been...

    Wrist pin Noise?

What do you mean by "piston slap"? I've heard the term but never knew what it ment. The noise is much less when the engine is at temp.

    Wrist pin Noise?

I have a 318 and have had a noise, which sounds like valve train. But I have eliminated any possibility that the noise is valve train related. So I believe my next step would by checking piston wrist pins. But what is the diagnostic procedure of checking wrist pins with the engine assembled...

    1966 dash board

Are the dash boards the same on a 66 Barracuda and Valiant? Would a dash pad off a Valiant fit a Barracuda? Thanks.

Football Season - only a couple months away

It should be the other way around. The viking should have downed the JD. After all Packers are smarter and by the way much better looking. And win Super Bowls, not just play in them. And are more manly, we play outside not inside. And ............

    Whoa Tonto

An Indian walks into a cafe with a shotgun in one hand pulling a male buffalo with the other. He says to the waiter, "Want coffee." The waiter says, "Sure, Chief, coming right up." He gets the Indian a tall mug of coffee. The Indian drinks the coffee down in one gulp, turns and blasts...

    Valve train noise

No. Standard, stock, same as. I just had a thought, lets see if anyone has tried this. How about putting an adjustable rocker arm on just that valve? The "cut to fit" push rods seems to me to be a hit and miss proposition. I'll start looking into it. May be a wild thought, but it's a thought.

    Valve train noise

Well, it's the stock rocker arm assy. I may need to do more research on lifter preload. I just can't fully explain the noise going away after the engine come to temp.

    Valve train noise

My 318 has a valve train noise. The engine was just rebuilt. Installed new Purple shaft cam. #5 intake valve train makes noise. I replaced lifter, pushrod and rocker arm. Checked oil port in lifter bore to see how much oil, if any, it was getting to lifter, checked ok. After engine is up to...

rocker arm and push rod question

Look at the bolt spacers on the rocker arm shaft. There are two width of spacers. The narrow spacers should be on the two outside and center bolts. The wide ones on two on either side of center. If the wide ones are out of place it will push the rocker arms over and out of position. Look to see...

Shes alive an shes stayin alive!!

I had a problem like that years ago. Are your crank and cam gears new? Are they solid? The old style cam gear has a nylon gear ring and if broken will slip on the inner ring and take your cam - crank timing out. Just a thought.

    64 barracuda seats in a 67 valiant?

I put buckets from a 74 Cuda into my 66 Barracuda. I attached the tracks from the 66 seats to the 74 bucket and redrilled holes in the floor. Use heavy fender washer on underside for a good hold.

    Rear Seat Dimension

This is a hard one. I need some one to measure the lenth and width of a back seat in a 70-74 Dodge Dart, just the seat not the back. I'm trying to find a seat cover to fit my 66 Barracuda. I just need a cover untill I can afford to replace it. I'm looking for 20" X 48". Thanks guys.

    Cracked Grill, HELP!

I have a cracked grill on my 66 Barracuda that needs fixed. It’s an aluminized type medal (pot medal). I have heard that this type of material can’t be welded or brazed. Is there any kind of an epoxy or liquid metal that will hold it together? If anyone has had any experience with a repair...

    only '66 around

Hey Tony, welcome to the world of A-Bodies. I have a 66 Barracuda with a 318, 904 trany, 8 3/4 rear end. My parts car was a 74 Cuda. This 66, when done, will be 50% 66 and 50% 74. I hope to have it on the road spring of 2006. One of the guys in a local club also has a 66 Barracuda with a 360 in...
