    DIY EMT Solar pool heater

I'll also suggest going with the solar cover, too. At one time I'd planned on making something similar out of copper tubing and some old windows I had stashed away, but I was worried the chlorine in the pool water wouldn't react well with the copper, and I can't imagine galvanizing on the EMT...

    Power tailgate override

You should be able to remove the access panel on the inside-side of the tailgate, even with the tailgate up. Here's a picture of the regulator, but I don't remember if this side is showing when you open up that panel. If it is, you should be able to either remove the 5 bolts that hold on the...

Buying a Magnum, What do I Look for?

I had a 2005 R/T with the hemi. Bought it new and kept it until 2016 with maybe 280K miles. It was one of the most reliable cars I've owned. Tons of room and it was a great highway cruiser. The only reason we got rid of it was we wanted even more room for camping gear so we got a minivan...

    64 Dart Convertible rescue

I don't have a decoder book or anything, but I've been keeping notes for a while about fender tag codes on these older cars for a while. Maybe I can help with some of them. Apparently not all assembly plants used AB for the engine code. I have notes from one with a lot of the same options...

Thinking of buying a 5.7 Dodge Magnum

I had an '05 Magnum RT. Bought it new and kept it for almost 12 years and 250k miles. Besides wear and tear stuff, the only problems I had with it were that it ate tires on the front since it was new, and just about all the A/C parts were replaced by the time it had 150k miles. Rebuilt the...

    Considering Push Button Conversion...help

So... does the car have the original shifter in it now? If yes, then your transmission must already be a pushbutton unit. Even though '65s had column and floor shifters, the transmissions were still pushbutton style units. If you're using an after market shifter, then the trans must be the...

    Considering Push Button Conversion...help

You'd need to find the pushbutton mechanism and cables from a '63 or '64 Dart, Valiant or Barracuda. The problem is going to be how to get it mounted in the dash, since there's no holes or tabs to retain the pushbutton mechanism. I suppose you could swap in a complete dash and instrument...

    Home made fan shroud.

You're right, I did only count the front of the radiator and not the whole thing. That might get you a little more than double: the back surface plus the tanks and sides. And yes, black is the best for radiant cooling. But I wouldn't expect the surface area of the fins to make any difference...

    Home made fan shroud.

People have argued about this for a while, and a few days ago I came across a similar question+answer asking why computer heat sinks were painted black. The answer basically said that at the temperatures they were operating at, the radiative cooling gained by the black paint was negligible. So...

Anyone used 3-D Printing to reproduce parts?

I've got a cheap 3D printer (MP Select Mini 3D Printer V2, Black - Monoprice.com). It's the only one I've ever messed around with, but from what I've read, it works as well as some others that cost 2x or 3x as much. It's the kind that works by squirting the melted plastic filament into layers...

    Replacing 7.25 with 8.25

All A-body rears are the same width, so it'll fit. But it won't just bolt right up. The shock mounting plates are different between 7 1/4 and 8 1/4 rears, so make sure to get those from the donor car. The snout on an 8 1/4 is longer, requiring a shorter driveshaft; a competent shop can...

    GPS Speedo

GPS signals are pretty weak and can't penetrate buildings or the ground. It needs a view of the sky to function, so they won't work in a tunnel or inside a parking garage. Just keep up with the other traffic and there shouldn't be any trouble. It also needs line-of-sight to at least 3...

    Am I Nuts?

I had an '05 RT. Bought it new and kept it for almost 11 years and over 200k miles. Ours didn't have a spot of rust and didn't cause us any more trouble than you'd expect for a car that old. I'd still have it if I hadn't gotten our super low miles 300 from my dad, and I'd certainly buy...

do i have a gt or no?

The VIN should have a "4" as the second digit if it's a GT and "3" if it's a 270. GT was an appearance package. They were all hardtops, had bucket seats, and different trim. You could also get a 270 as a hardtop.

Original Mopar 223 AM in '64 Dart GT

My shop manual is at home, so I can't tell you the colors, but one wire will be switched power (on when the ignition is on acc or run) to power the radio, and the other wire will be on the same circuit as the dash lighting. Both are grounded through the body of the radio.

    Will a 63 slant 6 904 interchange into 65 slant 6 Valiant column shift

The '63 trans will work, but you'll need to re-use the valve body out of the '65. It has an extra position to account for when the selector is in park that wasn't needed in '64 and earlier.

    Wheel base differences

Took some pics of the inside of my '65 Dart GT (hardtop, 111" WB) and '65 Dart Wagon (4-door 106" WB). The metal stampings around the basic door opening are identical, and you can see the extra parts welded in to turn the basic car into the different body styles. First, the wagon (should be...

    GT trim

If your 270 is a hardtop, then it should fit. I know the roof on my hardtop GT is different than on my 4-door wagon. Dart Wagon 3rd Row Seat?

3rd row seat was an option on 60-62 Lancer and Valiant wagons. I haven't actually seen pictures of the setup, so I don't know how everything was arranged. Maybe someone can post pictures. On '63-'66s, the gas tank and spare tire are going to be in the way. Other wagons of the era put the gas...

Pushbutton to 4-Speed - Pushbutton Delete Plate?

That's for the parking sprag. When the lever is down, it pulls on a cable to move a finger inside the transmission that locks into a toothed wheel and keeps the output shaft from turning. To put the car in park, you push "N" to put it in neutral, then slide the lever down. You can also just...

    Eliminating the column shifter

If you find a power steering column, you can use your existing manual steering shaft inside the power column, it'll just look like it's sticking out further out the end inside the engine bay. Alternatively, there's this: http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=258519
