You are exactly right about this. I the glass is a bit larger and the gasket is thicker. I hate to grind the pinch weld but I don't see any other choice . Well I brought the box to a friend who is an electrical engineer . He took the back plate off and found an issue on the board . So repaired that and everything is working as it should . So it wasn't something i was doing wrong . But thanks for all the input !

Yes I do have the correct instructions . I purchased this new from Summit Racing . I did some research and find it amazing all the trouble shooting forums for MSD . Not sure that's a good thing or maybe it's installation error . But many switched to Pertronix and these problems ended .
