Boy, you’re quick! Can’t say I’m necessarily correct, what is the proper setup for a BBD on a slant six? BTW, the engine is going into a A100 pickup, if that makes any difference.

It’s my understanding that on a slant six with the Carter BBD carb there should be a spacer under the carb. I think someone mentioned something like 5/16 thick. Is this correct, and if so, anyone know where a guy can find one? Thanks,Steve.

If your engine is on a stand, one can assume you are disassembling it. If so, take the timing cover off. That gets it out of the way for what ever procedure you use. Learning how to weld will be your best bet now and in the future. Kinda taught myself how about 40 years ago and never regretted it.

Maybe it’s my poor eyesight, but the mesh on those gears doesn’t look just right to me. Gear contact looks a little shallow. I’m by far no expert, it just doesn’t look like I think it should.

Check out this place called ePowersteering.com They have exactly what you need for electric power steering. I put power steering on a friend’s FJ40 and he can turn his 35” tires with one finger at a stand still. I also put together electric PS on my A100 using scrap yard parts.

Thanks for the replies guys. My main concern is the electronics involved. Not my strongest suit! I’m planning on electronic ignition, have a new distributor already. Just need info on how it will all act together. We’ see when and if I get that far along. Thanks, Steve.

Has anyone successfully installed the Holley sniper bbd on their slant? I know It’s designed for the Jeep six cylinder motors, but wondering if it could work on a slant six. Anyone?

Never did a build thread. The swap to IFS on my truck was a challenge to say the least. Haven’t had the truck on the road yet to test. I probably wouldn’t do it again!

If the filter is lower then the original location, would that not prevent oil draining back. I’m trying to not over think this thing.

As you've stated earlier, in later years they deleted the stand pipe. Did they also delete the check valve? If indeed they did, why would I need one in my remote mount? Maybe I'm missing something here.

Well guys, here it is. Made a plate tha bolts to the back of the block. I’m pretty satisfied it will work.

Or maybe the outer crankshaft pulley?
