    Torsion Bars

Here's the comment I was looking for. I'm considering these bars for my 66 w/ a slant. Thanks for the discussion, it also answered a ton of my questions.

[FOR SALE] A904 (TF6) torque converter, new.

I boughttbought thing from Cobra transmission. It's for a 66 slant 6. Unfortunately, it turns out the engine I purchased was a later model. I had to get a different torque converter. Consequently, this is just been taken up room in my life for the last year. I'd rather it go to someone...

    Swapping from 170 to 225

If anyone is curious, the swap went well. Thanks for the advise. After inspection, it appears someone put a post 67 engine in my 66 valiant parts car. So, I got really delayed when the output shaft didn't fit properly. No worries, there are always parts somewhere. Swapped the flywheel and...

    Swapping from 170 to 225

Thanks for the info. I was hoping this was the case. If you make the arrangements, you can have it. I have nowhere to store it and its probably headed to the scrap yard, though I'll try to make a post and see if anyone wants it.

    Swapping from 170 to 225

I have a 170 w/ automatic currently. It runs, but that's it. I ran across a 225 that was in much better shape, so I purchased it. The 225 was originally attached to a standard transmission. Now I am sitting here wondering if I am going to need another flywheel. I'd like to find out before I...

Been gone for a while, but my 1966 Valiant has returned from the shop.

Ya, long story short, I often did not have money and he was often busy with other jobs. So, a slow series of payments and a loose work schedule drew it out. But, no charge for storage, so I can't complain. I wish i had a picture of the before, but I'm bad with pictures. The front driver's...

Been gone for a while, but my 1966 Valiant has returned from the shop.

We had a deal where he would work on it in his spare time and I would pay him when work got completed. 4 years later. Here we are. Next tasks in descending order of urgency: Suspension (front is sagging), engine swap (already have a smooth running slant 6), and interior (no clue where to...

Output shaft bent on a 904

I don't know what options this thing came with. It has a power steering, radio, heater and 4 doors. When i got it, it had the original radio, which was neat, but I figured someone who is building up an original car could use it more, so I sold it and put in a real stereo. Other than that, no...

Output shaft bent on a 904

Well, alls i know is that i just found a freshly rebuilt transmission, swapped it out and the car has been running great ever since. I didn't notice before, but the transmission shifted poorly as well. Lesson learned: It doesn't hurt to dump a little extra cash for the right fix.

Output shaft bent on a 904

I do realize that the output shaft requires a full dis-assembly. Luckily I have a good mechanic who is better at such things than me. Typically i do all my own work, but when it comes to the insides of a transmission, i leave it to a professional. Anyway, we know that its bent because he put...

Output shaft bent on a 904

I had violent shaking in my car. I suspected it was the driveshaft, but I replaced the driveshaft and it returned. Sure enough, the output shaft is bent. I have looked around for a new one, but I can only find one from a Jeep 1960 and up...

Driveshaft on my 66 valiant fell off. Now what?

Alright, well thanks for everyone's help. The driveshaft shop ended up finding the parts and built me one. Now i'm back on the road and now i know the sound of a driveshaft thats fallen off.

Driveshaft on my 66 valiant fell off. Now what?

Hehe, ya, if only i had got it off the side of the road that night. Now i know what a driveshaft sounds like when it falls off. Well, i jacked it up and put a tape measure to it. It looks like its 54" from taleshaft to differential saddle. Does that sound right? Also, there is 1/2 a u-joint...

Driveshaft on my 66 valiant fell off. Now what?

Well, I haven't been able to measure it. Somehow everyone needs me to work for them when i have no vehicle. But i've been on the phone. I'm not having luck with the junkyards here in town. And there is only one drive shaft shop left here in town. My dad advised me that the shop would have...

Driveshaft on my 66 valiant fell off. Now what?

Thanks for all the quick replies. Ya, you are right, it probably wasn't useable, but at least i'd have the yoke. Right now i'm stuck with nothing. Its sunday so tomorrow i will be calling around to every junkyard. Its a 7.25 rear end. I will get under the car tomorrow with a tape measure...

Driveshaft on my 66 valiant fell off. Now what?

Not only did it fall off, it was stolen. Last night i was cruising, and heard a terrible clank clank clank. The clank stopped and i rolled to a good place to leave the car for the night. I got up this morning to check it out, found the driveshaft missing, walked along the road i was on and...

    1966 Valiant window cranks

Well, the knob fell off on my driver side window crank. Now, i have fixed other knobs before with some serious glue. but now they don't move. 1. Does anyone have a good fix for these things so that they still spin? 2. After a quick search online, i've found some aftermarket ones, but they...

Soft brakes after changing wheel cylinders.

Yes, absolutely agree here. I want to replace with a dual master, but i'm not sure where to start. Is there a good thread or walk thru so i know what i'll actually be getting myself into?

Soft brakes after changing wheel cylinders.

Thanks for everyone's help. I just assumed the self adjusters were worth a ****. They are not. After a little manual adjusting, the car is braking like a champ. I thought i knew how to bleed brakes. I never really thought about the 4 wheel drums needing adjustment. I tightened it up all...

Soft brakes after changing wheel cylinders.

If i hold the brake it does not sink slowly. The master cylinder is fine. I would've noticed the master cylinder before the wheel cylinder blew. Before that blew, the brakes were great. I just replaced the wheel cylinders w/ new ones. the brake shows/hardware didn't need to be replaced...

Soft brakes after changing wheel cylinders.

So, i blew out one of the rear brake cylinders a few days ago. I still have 4 wheel drum, so I decided to go ahead and swap out all 4, i'm sure they were old. So, i changed out the rear 2. I bled the brakes until no more air came out. When i tightened them, the pedal was just as stiff as...

    7.25 rear question

I'm about to purchase new gears myself. I plan on keeping the low gear ratio since my little 170 slant 6 won't ever haul ***, i'd rather it save me some money. here are a couple of sites where i found some items. I can't seem to find just a shim kit though...

A body, AM radio out of a 1966 Plymouth Valiant. Works

i pulled it out some time ago and have decided i like an MP3 player in my daily driver. So, instead of throw this on ebay, i figured i'd check and see if anyone wants it here. It works, i picked up all the AM stations. It sometimes got a hiss sound in the background, but it didn't bother me...

Rebuilt my 7.25 rear end and bad news....

Yup automatic. Someone told me to check for the ratio on the ring, but only after i had bolted it all back together, so i don't know my current ratio, but i'm sure its designed for the highway and not power, so thats why i guess something like 3.21 or 2.93. I like the low RPMs on the highway...

Rebuilt my 7.25 rear end and bad news....

In a perfect world, i might swap the rear end. But the fact is that i'm leaving this slant 6 in there as is for the next 10 years at least. So its not like i need a more powerful rear end. Plus i don't have the money, time, or space to swap the rear end. This thing is a daily driver. And...

My ring and pinion are worn to crap. They will still work for a while. but there is a noise going on back there that i don't like and neither do my girlfriends. So, i'm looking to replace it as fast as possible. Where do y'all buy these type of parts? Ideally, I'd like to buy a replacement...
