Picking Up 340 Short Block - What to Look For?

Hi All, I am still looking to get more comments I can take with me to evaluate the condition of the block. Truth is I am driving 5 hours to pick it up, unless there is a crack down the middle it’s coming home. Can someone maybe give me its value $$ as it sits as a clean short block? Thanks

Hood Lifting At Driver Corner - Hinge Issue? 1970 Dart Swinger 340

Well here is what I noticed last night. I am not sure if it came from re-tightening the screws or the root of the problem. 340 Aluminum Edelbrock Heads & Intake Deep corroded Appearance

I bought this beautiful car in the late fall. But as you can see the aluminum heads and intake have a dirty brown look when I bought it. Not sure if it came from heat, oils etc. I would like to clean them without taking the engine out. Any suggestions? Any idea how this came to be? thanks, Ron
