Why not just take it to a reputable shop and it built with a warranty? I see a lot of folks try and save a few bucks and they end up spending the same more money in the long run. My experience is, there is not one kit that you can buy that has everything you need.

I’m looking to find the correct inner shaft steering column for my my 67’ Dart. It is a power steering car. Does anybody know where to buy a correct new one?

I bought a 68 complete standard bore for $1,000.00 two weeks ago. Haven’t torn it down, but like the earlier comments, it probably needs to be machined and new pistons. So I would say $800-$1500.

Opened them up to 2.05 from 2.02. Block has been bored .30 over. The rotating assembly is pretty well stock. 10.8 compression. It really likes the 96-98 octane fuel. Has good street manors too. I didn’t go with aluminum heads, cause I wanted to keep it as period correct as possible.

I’m running this cam in my 340. It has stock rotating assembly with J heads like yours. Running Air Gap intake and 750 Holley carbrator. Engine made 438 hp on dyno at machine shop.

Just cut them off is the easy answer. Don’t over complicate it for yourself. Just use a chop saw and run water on it while you are cutting the axle. Measure twice and cut once.

If is excessable take it to a good muffler shop and they can just weld the pan still on the car. Just have to change the oil when they are done.

Use some Steel Seal on it and see if that is cracked.

I have an old 340 block that is bored 60 over. Think about using it to build a 416 or 426 Stroker. Just don’t know which pistons to run since block is bored 60 over. Any reliable ideas or suggestions?

Running the Comp XE275HL Cam. X heads that have a good valve job. 10.5 compresson. Air Gap intake and 750 cfm edelbrock. TTi headers, 3200 stall and 391 gears. It’s in my 67 dart. Run 93 octane gas.

I run Speed Pro’s in my 340. Have no issue with them. Engine made 432 hp on dyno. I’m running a little bigger cam than you are.

On the headers or starter?

TTi, Hooker, Doug’s, they all make headers that will work with original gear box. I have a set of Hookers on my 67 Dart. It’s a tight fit.

I drove it about 5 miles. Got the 3rd member out now. Finally found a local guy that is going to set it up for tomorrow. Thank you for you guys input.

I just put a new ring, pinion, and bearings in my 8-3/4” 489 case. It has sure grip. The rearend makes no noise on deceleration, but how’s on acceleration. I’ve set a few up in the past and never had this issue. It is driving me crazy and I don’t want to trash these new gears. Any input is...

If you are talking about the ones on the bottom of the front fenders, one is gone and the other is not any good.
