Thank you all for the excellent info! Greatly appreciated. Now all I have to do is... Make it happen!:steering:

    Just a sanity check here.

I've got a '67 Dart with a 340, a modified 727 trans with a reverse valve body. It currently has a Cheetah SCS cable shifter. The previous owner hacked up the front and back carpet to accommodate the shifter. I'm going to replace the carpet and want to change the shifter out to something like...

    Stroker Build... maybe

Thanks for all the replies. Apparently there's a lot of people who like calculating the cylinder volume. LOL If I do go this route, it would be with the current 4.07" bore and a 4.1" stroke... I'll probably go with something a bit milder. I want to still be able to run pump gas so I need to...

    Stroker Build... maybe

A while back... my engine indulged itself in a slight smathering of steel dust. The rocker arm setup was ball and cup. One of the rocker arm balls broke off. The wasn't much dust (.003 .005) that I found, but it was everywhere. Since this happened, I really don't trust the spinning assembly...

    water in the oil

There was a Mr. Gasket set of rocker arms on it. They had a ball and cup design for the push rods. The ball on the rocker arm broke off. It's about 3/16" in diameter so there wasn't metal to go around, but it got pulverized somewhere down the line and made it's way around the engine. I...

    water in the oil

Update: Since my last post was written, I tore some of the tendons from my left bicep and can not lift more than 10-12 lbs with it. This is why it's taken so long to get the engine out of the car. Finally, the stars aligned. One of my brothers, my youngest son and I finally pulled it two...

    water in the oil

Thanks for the suggestion. There are no cracks that I could see. I went over and over it (and everything that was apart) while it was apart. Scraping all the old gasket material and such. Lightly flat filing to look for any aberrations. It looks like it was port matched at one time. I can can...

    water in the oil

Coolant. Be kinda weird to leak that much oil there. It's hard to tell EXACTLY where a leak is coming from with the engine put together and in the car. All I could see from the angle I had was it running off the block. Thanks flyfish! That did the trick. I grabbed one of my pliable scrapers...

    water in the oil

Well, no pressure test needed... yet. It's leaking between the intake and block on passenger side at the rear of the engine. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the manifold off. It's stuck like super glue. The only place I used silicon was on the cork gaskets at both ends. A...

    water in the oil

I don't think so due to the amount of coolant in the pan when I drained it. Put silicone sealer on the water pump bolts, picking up the pressure tester tomorrow after work (had to order one). Reports on Thursday. Thanks again all for the helpful info and suggestions.

    water in the oil

Thanks for all the replies. First, the heads have not been pulled since I've owned it. It was running really strong with no cross contamination issues. Second, I do believe it may be the intake gasket. Just didn't want to pull it if I didn't have to. BTW I can see places on the intake gaskets...

    water in the oil

Weeks ago, I had a rocker arm failure. I bought a whole new setup. After what seems like an eternity of waiting on parts. Yesterday, I was able to put the new set in. The engine is, what I think (there's no documentation on this) a '72 340. The heads are '72 that has been verified. They...

Mr. Gasket Rocker Arm Stud Issues

There was no problem with the adjuster(s), no shortage of oil, no lifter failure. I guess it just had a bad day. I pulled the intake manifold off this afternoon. Everything with the exception of the rocker arm and push rod looks fine. Heck, I could probably reuse the rocker arm and push rod...

Mr. Gasket Rocker Arm Stud Issues

Not sure if the lash was set wrong as the top sides are almost all The adjustments on all the other rocker arms are very close. I don't think anything backed off. I think the ball end just snapped off due to a defect.

Mr. Gasket Rocker Arm Stud Issues

Has anyone run across this? I've had the car for a little over a year now. Never noticed any change in the sound. It always sounded like a bucket of bolts. The first year I had it I didn't do much work to it as I was seen what all the issues were before tackling the "fixes". This spring...

    '67 Dart GT wiring question

Thank you Matax. Also nice nod to Jack Webb. "Just the facts, ma'am" The bulbs that I have are 1157A. I have a few from my old cars that my ex father in-law had given me back in the 80's, but none were amber. The bulbs that were in the car when I bought it were, I believe 1156's, (both posts...

    '67 Dart GT wiring question

With dissimilar pieces of metal back to back so the expand at different rates, I get it. I hooked the relays up to a 12V power source and even at 200mA you can hear the clicking of the circuit being broken and connected over and over, they work. The problem appears to be that the turn signal...

    '67 Dart GT wiring question

I found the second relay, both test good. I.E. less than an ohm with 0 volts, and they work as they should when 12V is applied. I then tested the wiring to both relay sockets and neither are seeing any voltage at any time. The only time the signals actually "work" is with the brakes on. Then...

    '67 Dart GT wiring question

No, but I did replace both front turn signals with OE bulbs. The do light up, but don't blink. The person I bought it from was quite emphatic about apologizing for the wiring. He said "I really %^#$'d up on that. All the more reason for re-wiring the whole thing. LOL

I've noticed that the front signals aren't working at all. Might it be there's not enough draw to make the relay work?

    '67 Dart GT wiring question

I have to blink them manually, on/off, repeat as necessary. The blinker arm does return to center when the steering wheel returns. It's not a bad relay, I already changed that. Again, it's better than before, for now, I'm good with it. At least I can stop using hand signals. Heck, I don't...

    '67 Dart GT wiring question

I "need" to rewire my Dart. The previous owner was not electrically incline. As it sits now, while driving, when I hit the brakes, the brake lights do come on... but so do the front turn signals and fender mounted signal indicators as well. No turn signals, no interior or dash lights. That...

So what is the earliest concert you can remember going to

I really don't remember much of the '70s... But I was told I had a REALLY good time. I do remember the first concert I went to. Buffalo Springfield with Steve Miller at the Chrysler Arena. I didn't know who Buffalo Springfield was until about the fourth or fifth song in when they played...
