I was driving my ‘74 dart yesterday and realized the needle isn’t reading in the middle. What is this needle position on the gauge telling me? What are the other marks supposed to mean as well?

Ahh.. I see now, because less surface area to contact to force it open.

I do have another .110 n/s that I bought. I could install that, but i'm not sure how much it would bring the pressure down when going from .120 that is already installed in the primary. I'll look into getting a different gauge like the other fella suggested.

Could be a crapped out summit brand gauge ?

So good news, I got the car fired back up and all is good now. That .110 on the secondary really helped me get many more threads to catch on the adjuster nut and I was able to get the fuel up midway on the sight glass now no problem. I did see that on my fuel pressure gauge it's reading about...

So interesting thing... I honestly only messed with the secondary bowl last night, but i replaced the N/S with the .110 suggested. But when I went to the primary instead of being .150 like the secondary it was .120 sized... So would it be wise to make both primary/secondary the same or is it...

You are correct, I have the sight glass so fuel will need to be middle of window. As for the needle. 2 things are going on. The size I found that was installed is .150, secondly the needle is fully seated on my secondary (seen in first post picture) and it's still flooding badly.

Do you believe that because of such a large needle that is why it was cranked all the way down until it bottomed out just to keep the level of fuel at the bottom of sight glass or is the internal screw as stated from others something to cause this issue being inserted too far?

It is exact same carb as the first holley carb picture with the clear windows. The needle was already flush when I went to try and adjust and I thought that was odd. But the car ran nice and smooth at idle, but I noticed when I hard accelerated it did a little stutter so I thought i needed to...

Some shop around town replaced my old junk carb with this one so i'm learning about this stuff now. But the needle looks exactly like this from jegs and same size with the round bullet tip needle. Says this is for alcohol ?? I suspect I don't need alcohol needle ?

This is what is happening. The front bowl is set nice right above the bottom of sight glass and the rear bowl just fills up and overflows rapidly. I can't figure out why.

What is causing the needle to be so low that the nut can't even turn it ? This is the position the needle is in prior to raising the fuel level that was below the sight glass.
