    Body Restoration Help

Incredible, there's not a single A Body Dart panel. How can nobody make a fender for one of the most popular cars Chrysler ever made? The problem with buying a used one, especially sight unseen, is that you never really know what you're getting into in terms of body work.

    Body Restoration Help

I'm contemplating restoring my 1970 Dart Swinger 340 and I'm trying to figure out the costs for parts/paint. I've got a crew to do the work, just need to find the parts. Where do you guys recommend I look for: 1. Front driver's fender (new and used)? 2. Rear quarter panels and/or repair metal...

    Clutch Recommendation Please

So it sounds like Centerforce is the best thing to use. After a quick search it appears I need the Centerforce DF269739 for my 1970 Swinger 340. I'm getting prices of about $350, which is about 3x what I'm getting from Rock Auto non Centerforce clutches. Does that sounds right? If I were to...

    Clutch Recommendation Please

I'm replacing the original clutch in my 1970 Dart Swinger 340 w/4 speed. Any recommendations as to the replacement unit I should buy? I see there are a few clutch kits out there but figured someone might have experience with one over the other. Ideally I'd like to keep it as close to original...

All MOPAR Texas event- Sept 18th & 19th, 2010 (Austin, Tx)

Sounds great. I've finally got the '70 340 Swinger running like a charm (almost) and if I can find someone else to drive, I'll bring the '75 Swinger, too. It will be cool to meet my fellow Austin MOPAR wackos. Corey

Help: Can't Find 10" rear drums for '70 Dart 340

The 10" Wagner drums from Rock Auto worked out great. It was a helluva job since nothing on the brakes had been touched since the early 70's. Turns out I was pretty close to death judging by the wear/warping and rust we found. I did manage to find a guy in Long Island, NY who claims to have...

Looking for a good OEM-ish fuel pump

I'm looking to replace the fuel pump on my '70 Dart Swinger 340 with something as close to stock as possible. I'm pretty sure it's got the original fuel pump on there now. Any suggestions? Is there a MOPAR fuel pump still in production?

Help: Can't Find 10" rear drums for '70 Dart 340

Can anyone help? I'm looking for the 10" rear drums for a 1970 Swinger 340, discs up front. Nobody seems to have this part anymore... only the 9". The only place I've been able to find it is O'Reilly Auto Parts and they are $96 each. If all else fails, I've got to bite the bullet and get...

What's up with the LA Dart engine?

Very interesting... so the "L" designation to the "A" engines (hence Lightweight A) applied to all 340's including the one in my car. There was no LA engine option, it's simply that the 340 was one of the new for '67+ lightweight engine designs called "LA". I get that right?

    Resoration Parts in Austin?

I may need some suspension parts and bushings.... working on the front end now. Will probably also need brake parts. I just bought generic brake pads/shoes and shocks... are there "restoration" versions of those?

What's up with the LA Dart engine?

Today a buddy of mine told me about something called an "LA Dart" engine.. which was a lighter weight version of the 340 you could have ordered. According to him the numbers on the engine start with "A" in stead of some other letter and that's how you can tell one from a regular 340. Being a...

Looking for a great parts place online

Where are you guys buying your restoration Dart parts online? It's hard to tell which sites are legit and which are not - most of them have terrible websites that look my 5 year old made them. The only one I've really used more than once is Jims Auto Parts http://www.jimsautoparts.com/ which...

Yup, you need an inspection in TX. I had to do my '75 Special Edition and I'm about to do my '70 340, both moved from NY.

It's located in a small sleeve between the ash tray and the glove box. You gotta reach up there and feel around to find it. Pain in the ***. Thanks to all.

Where can I find a dual points distributor?

V8, that would be great. Let me know if can find it. Demon Seed, thanks, I'll check with them. For now I'm going to use the one I have and have the points cleaned if necessary. Car has 15K miles on it and this is the original distributor (I think).

    Broken Dash Guages Help

My 70 Swinger 340 has dash guage issues. The gas/alt/oil pressure guages work sporadically and when they do work they seem to be all over the place. Speedo works fine. Sounds like it could be a loose wire? Any advice on how to fix this? Much Thanks, Corey
