    340 Stroker: experiences with parts

I could easily buy or import headers, but there are then discussions about the classic car status by the authorities when the car is inspected, hence the original HP cast manifolds.

    340 Stroker: experiences with parts

Thanks for the opinions☺️ Currently it looks like a 418 stroker, the block has already been drilled to 0.30, is now being drilled to 0.40☺️ What do you think is a suitable intake? Should be a torque engine, not a speed racing engine.

    Which leaf springs to use?

In case it is of interest, here are Hotchkis, additional 1.5 inch lowering blocks installed, so a total of 2.5 inches lower

is a single plan, unfortunately no photos because the engine is already stored at the engine builder.

Just out of curiosity, what speaks against the Offenhauser Mainfold? :-)

    340 Stroker: experiences with parts

updated: I took a look at the 340, mounted on it is an Offenhauser Mainfold, Model 360, and I was able to get hold of a couple of Indy Steel Heads with the 2.02 valves. Maybe I can incorporate these parts into the project, otherwise I'll sell the parts on

New Member from Swiss with 1970 FC7 Duster

Now with 1.08 torsion bars, Hellwig Swaybar at the front, Hotchki's Leafspring and Billstein shocks all around, plus about 2.5 inches lower, the Duster drives brilliantly The next upgrade is the engine

    340 Stroker: experiences with parts

I don't have a target in that sense as far as horsepower is concerned. I like the larger displacement that comes from stroking, and the logically higher torque that comes with it. As written, it should be an engine for cruising, i.e. torque out below, and not power at 5000 revolutions and more...

    340 Stroker: experiences with parts

I was able to buy a 340 engine, which I would like to build up for my Duster over the winter The idea is a nice stroker, roadworthy I've thought about it a lot, but there are so many brands and parts that the more I research and search, the more I lose track Starting point: 1970 Plymouth Duster...

    Which BS at 8.75 BBP?

These have the original but also the small bolt circle? I think I will use 4.5 BS because the large bolt circle makes the axle a bit wider. But the best thing is probably when I install the axle and then measure what has space :-)

    Demon rear spring height

I understand that the shakel position is OK, but the constant clicking is annoying :-( The problem wasn't with the original 5-ply springs, nor with the Espo, 6-ply, stock high. Then I installed the Hotchkis, and that's it notices that the shaker hits the chassis, so back to the Espo and lowering...

    Which BS at 8.75 BBP?

I was able to get hold of an original 8.75 A-body axle, small bolt circle. To do this, the parts required to convert to the large bolt circle, as well as to drum brakes in size 10x2.5. I currently have a 7.25 axle with 15x8 Steelies, but re-welded, don't know the exact BS. The Duster is...

    [Found!] HP Exhaust Mainfold 340

Hello and thanks for the offer :-) Do you know if the openings are larger than on an original 1970 318 engine? Since I want to do my 318 in winter, it only makes sense for me if I also have larger openings :-) Best regards, Simon

    [Found!] HP Exhaust Mainfold 340

The exhaust mainfolds are supposed to be on my 318, which gets some life breathed into it;-) Since the vehicle inspection is very strict here in Switzerland, I can't install any headers, then the Duster will no longer be considered a vintage car because it's converted, or that's optically...

    [Found!] HP Exhaust Mainfold 340

Hello everyone, I am looking for a set of manifolds for the 340, A-Body, 68-70, the HP manifolds. Or the 360 Mainfold with bigger holes:-) The seller should be ready to ship to Switzerland :-)

    Demon rear spring height

I had the same "problems" with the rear height on my Duster. I had the original tired leaf springs with coil shocks in them, bought them already. I liked the height, but since I was redesigning the entire chassis at the front, I also wanted new springs and shock absorbers at the rear. I then...

Yes, the watch industry was doing badly at this time, but it was still one of the largest employers in western Switzerland. The bears have had a new, large enclosure right on the river for a few years now, so you definitely have to come and see again :-) Best regards from Switzerland :-)

Thank you for the greetings :-) @ gzig5, cool, the world is sometimes small. Did you work in the watch industry?:-) Yes, it is still very strict to allow a car. We have the option to test a car that is 30 years old as a veteran, then you only have to check it every 6 years, but a new car is...

Hello, everyone. I've been reading quietly for a while, now I've signed up :-) I bought a 1970 Plymouth Duster this summer. The Duster has already been presented here, it had white stripes on the side before :-) Best regards from cold Switzerland :-)
