470 SFT cam recommendation (I searched!)

On the fence with this, i’ve read about these gains I just don’t have anyone local that I know of I’d trust to get the real 15-20 cfm. Near Cleveland if anyone has recommendations. Guess I’d be willing to ship also. I’d love to do it myself if possible but am uneducated at exactly what would...

470 SFT cam recommendation (I searched!)

I know it’s been beat to death, and I’ve read andyF’s book, and searched on multiple forums. Just looking for further advice as my build isn’t best combo of parts, scrounged and bought what I could get deals on. Duster street strip - 11.50 or slower don’t want a cage at this point. Likely 3.91...

Used cam to “scrape” new cam bearings

I used the cam that came out, and before the bearings were replaced they all had good wear patterns so at least in this block the cam fit before… update after a light cleaning with atf soaked scotchbrite maroon they look totally different. Literally a few wipes and it was nearly gone. The...

Used cam to “scrape” new cam bearings

It’s at least a relief to see you grooved the cam same as I did. At first I turned it by ratchet, then as the new bearings eased up I used the drill. Spins nice now, I’ll touch the bearings up with some cheap scotchbrite tomorrow and see how they look. I work at a body shop so I’ll avoid the 3m...

Used cam to “scrape” new cam bearings

I’ve read multiple times the big blocks can be a bit of a pain fitting cams with new bearings. Today I used the original 400 cam to test fit. Was a bit tight, to the point of needing a ratchet to turn it and back it out. I cut grooves in the old cam journals and used that to “size” my new...

    New in NE Ohio

May have seen on CL? Most of the cars up north around here need sheet metal work or they’re way out of my price range! This is my 73, occasional driver as is while collecting the new drivetrain!

    Thoughts on cam selction?

Looks like a good choice, maybe a bit more stall but then you would have to consider how much street and how much strip. I’d say that’s about as radical a cam as I’d street drive. I always seem to pick too small a cam worrying about street manners.

383 Broken exhaust stud please help!

Really think welding a nut on will work. Like said before, if you get a nice weld and let it cool then heat the surrounding area it should wiggle free fairly easy. Tapping to loosen with pressure helps too. Done this more times than I can count and its almost always successful. Keep looking I’m...

    New in NE Ohio

Hey guys, long time lurker and newer member. Not new to mopars, but recently got back in with a 73 duster. Any other Ohio members nearby? The parts game has changed since 08-09 last time I had an older mopar. Lots of new/different vendors!
