check the polarity of the coil. If the wires are reversed it will cause a voltage loss that is shown as an engine miss.

Are you spinning the cam with an electric drill? Is the cam gear installed? Are the pushrods in with rocker arms? You must have load on the lifters in order for the crown on the lifter and the taper on the lobe to make it spin, and then it looks more like a jerking motion than an a smooth spin...

If you have enough clearance between the valves and piston, and enoughspring travel to avoid coil bind, and enough clearance between the bottom of the valve spring retainer and the top of the valve guide, then by all means use the higher rocker ratio. It is worth more power without the negatives...
