mpp m1 vs eddy air gap.. magnum gurus enter here

NO, maybe would even slow down with the M1. never underestimate a good dual plane. Especially if it has Air Gap on it.

part number for half size oil filter

I use the Napa number 21348 on my race car without having to use the 90 degree adaptor. It's very easy to get to and isn't so close to my headers. Its the same filter as the 51348 Wix number. Wix makes the Napa filters for Napa.

not X heads and not J heads...what are they?

NO, I didn't mean it as a butthole response. thanks for trying to help. I just didn't have any tools with me and it was getting dark.

not X heads and not J heads...what are they?

yeah, I knew I could look at the casting numbers and find out what they are in my books. I don't have it home yet, and didn't have time to pull a valve cover. going back to get it tomarrow. I was just seeing if anyone may have seen the "wierd" raised square casting in place of the X or J, and...

not X heads and not J heads...what are they?

short run down. at a gas station in my Volare wagon yesterday and this guy comes over to ask about the engine because it "sounded awesome". I tell him stroked 340 and he says he has a 340. he said he thought it was a 72 model but some guys had come to look at buying it and passed because they...

Tin intake gaskets in gasket set?????

x2 I have always thrown the metal ones away and used the blue gaskets.

    Care to speculate my 340?

manifolds are gonna kill it. that cam is gonna want headers bad. stick a nice set of headers on and gain 30 hp easy. nice build no matter what it makes.

    416 running slower than expected

same headers on my 408. never ran it in the 1/4 mile, but it pushes my dart to low 6.80's in the eigth and is still pulling hard at the line.

    cheapest EQ heads

yeah, after doing a little research if seems that Odessa may not be the best choice. I've done some searches from chevy, ford, etc forums and it looks like 8 out of every 10 people who have bought from them would like to burn the place down. Sport, I hope you end up with a good set of heads...

    5.9 magnum...whos running one?

thanks guys, I had not noticed the magnum forum. just since I posted the op a while ago, a buddy of mine that runs a yard said he would let me have all the magnums that I wanted for $250 each. to boot, he has a brand new set of Edelbrock magnum heads that he said he would sell for 1,000 bucks...

    5.9 magnum...whos running one?

that sounds promising! I know that wagon is gonna weigh more, but I would love to click off some high 7 second runs with it in the eighth mile. going to use a beefed up 904 with the lower first gear set and maybe a 4.10 rear, but no less than a 3.91.

    5.9 magnum...whos running one?

would like to know who is running one of these in their a body, what kind of specs, and what kind of performance you have gotton from it. I have read about what is required to swap one over in place of a LA engine and think I have that covered. here is the idea that I am playing with. use...

use the moroso gaskets as well. I have the same part number on my race car. they are great.

    stumble/hesitation

yep. may not be it, but it only takes 5 minutes to try it, and you don't have to go out to buy a gauge. you need a vac gauge anyway though.

Wanna ditch the 90° oil filter adapter.

I got you covered herE, or at least I think I do. I don't know if you have headers or not, but i assume that you do. go get a NAPA filter part number 1348. it is a shorty filter and fits on my 408 with Dougs headers. I have plenty of room to change it without dropping the header. Napas...

Timing the oil pump shaft gear?

that should do the trick. if not then check for any small burs on the gears that may be keeping them from meshing. LOL, never mind. I see you already got it in there. good job.

comp 285HL camshaft for the street

he does indeed. he specked my RHS heads and solid roller cam in my bracket car and told me what the car should run based off of the info I gave him. the man hit it dead on. I'm a customer for as long as he's in business.

comp 285HL camshaft for the street

No, they didn't sell it. I just called to get a suggestion. I only use PTC converters. I have a 9.5 street/strip 3500 stall PTC in my 67 belvedere. it cost me $545 brand new. car went from 7.80's to 7.40's in the eigth mile with only the converter change from a B&M. I also talked to Brian at...

Timing the oil pump shaft gear?

put some grease on the shaft and the shaft gear. it needs some there for start up any way. also, if it wont quite mesh together then you can have someone rotate the engine back and forth with a socket on the crank as you push down on the oil pump shaft.. not a lot, just wiggle it back and forth...

comp 285HL camshaft for the street

they claimed thats what I should use. .030 over 340 with flat top pistons sticking out of the hole .021". worked J heads with 2.02 intake valves. competition valve job, bowl work, and cleaned up push rod pinch area. gasket matched to a RPM Airgap intake. 727 tranny and 8 3/4 with 3.91...

comp 285HL camshaft for the street

anyone running one of these in their street car? if so what converter, heads, rockers, and gear are you running? This is what the guys at Comp suggested that I use in my 340 Duster. its gonna be a street/strip deal, but mostly street. just curious from the guys that run this cam as to...

thanks for all the opinions so far guys. little update. I just spoke with Clements Racing in Spartanburg SC. if you are familiar with Nascar then you may know his son Jeremy Clements who drives in the Nationwide series. they told me for around $800-$1,000 I could get the following: heads...
