    No power to coil

It’s hard to do, but I sure do appreciate the help. I pretty much get lost on wiring, but thanks to the input here, I’ve learned some things. Also got some things updated that needed done anyway.

    No power to coil

Started like this every time after changing the coil wire. I think before we would move it just right and it would start. Had it running once, and when I turned the distributor to set the timing it died, and wouldn’t start again. Can't get video to upload.

    No power to coil

I ran through all the tests using the diagrams you posted. I got to the coil, hooked a test light to it, and when I hit the starter, it pulsated. Pulled the coil wire and put the ohm meter on it, and nothing. Borrowed a coil wire from another car, and it fired right off. Tried it off and on all...

    No power to coil

@Mattax ,after running all the tests, going by the diagrams you gave me, gremlin still kept returning. I kept telling myself it would end up being something stupid simple. Bad coil wire. (New set from O'Reilly) Changed coil wire, and it didn't even turn all the way over when it fired. Ordering...

    No power to coil

Thank you. We finally figured that out. Cleaned the bulk head connector, and re-spliced some wires. One of those got it going.

    No power to coil

Thanks for your help @Mattax. We did so many things, I’m not sure which is the right one, but it’s running. :steering:

    No power to coil

Also, the ballast resistor gets really hot.

    No power to coil

So the brown wire should carry power In the run position?
  10. '73red-duster

    No power to coil

Connector under the dash from the ignition switch, brown wire is only hot with key in start position.

    No power to coil

I have tried to trace everything down. The brown wire is the one feeding the coil, but there is only power going to the coil when the key is in the start position. When in the run position, there is no power to the coil. Is that correct?

    No power to coil

That helps a lot. Car is at my buddy's body shop, so I'll check that out in the morning.

    No power to coil

I'm lost. I have no power at the coil, the bottom left tab on the ballast resistor, and none on the field farthest from the main positive on the regulator. It cranks, and everything else seems to work ok, lights, etc. ICM is new, ballast resistor is new, ignition switch is new, neutral safety...

    When was electronic ignition introduced?

My '72 Duster had points, '73 satellite was electronic.

1971 dart Only cranks when I jump the relay.

Haven't read everything that has been done so far, but here's the issue with mine. Linkage is so worn, it will not stay adjusted to enact the safety switch. I can adjust it, so that it works for awhile, but doesn't last long, so I wired up a push button start. ( '76 Dart Sport floor shift auto )...

4 pin ECU doesn't work. Old 5 pin does.

Just following up. Were you able to find the module and get going?
  17. '73red-duster

4 pin ECU doesn't work. Old 5 pin does.

I've had them go out on Mopars, and Fords. Good thing about them, is before they go completely out, they get hot and quit, then cool off and work. I've nursed more than one home this way Never had one go bad on a GM, but from what I've been told, when they go, they're done.

    Hope it works for you.

Had headlights, then high beam only, now nothing

My guess is, you got a bad switch. It does happen.

4 pin ECU doesn't work. Old 5 pin does.

Mine went out a few years ago. Just happened to be in front of an O’Rielly’s when it did. They had 2 different ones in stock, and neither worked. They ordered this Borg Warner in for me, and no problems since. I kept the box in case I ever had another problem. It is a 5 pin. This is on my '73...

    Click when trying to start

Most times I've had this problem, it was #1 Weak battery, #2 starter relay, #3 corroded cables. Next time it does it, try jumping across the posts on the starter relay.

Gets hot then starter is very slow turning over.

Had one do that years ago. Timing was off.

light go out when i press the dimmer switch

Mine did this, and it was the light switch, not the dimmer switch. Replaced it, and no problems since.

    Head light issue

My Sport did this. New headlight switch, problem solved. Should be available about anywhere. Got mine at O'Rielly's.

    My rotor is "short".

Does anybody make decent parts anymore? We don't have a Napa here. Just O'Rielly (known for junk), and AutoZone (maybe a little higher grade of junk). One of the shops I deal with gave up on both, and just goes to the dealer for most parts.
