    If the engine you have now stalls out after 10 minutes, your replacement engine will likely stall out after 10 minutes. Stalling is usually fuel delivery, ignition or something other than the actual engine.

    If your 73 still has the timing manipulating crap still on it, it needs to go. Keep the charcoal canister and assorted hoses and run one vacuum line from the carb to the distributor. This would also be a good time to do the quick and easy fuel line mod.

    They call it a cooling system for a reason. Once you start removing parts of that system, the problems start showing up. We have been through this hundreds of times on here. My car, running a complete factory cooling system, with an AC condenser in front of the radiator, could idle all day...

    Clutch Fan!

    When I tried to install a Mopar Performance 5 blade clutch fan on the wife's 73, slant 6, non-AC, standard cooling, it wouldn't fit. I can't remember what the problem was, may have been hitting the upper hose or to close/hitting the radiator.

    That's quick for it to be heating up. If you start it and let it run with the radiator cap off do you see a bunch of bubbling in the coolant?

    Like the others, I get 23ish (highway) with the wife's 73 Dart. Nothing special going on. The only mods are the removal of the timing delay crap, tune up parts recommended on slantsix.org, and the fuel line mod. If you are getting 9 mpg, something should be obviously wrong.

    Well, the aluminum inner structure was part of what made the option package. So your car had the wrong one installed at the factory or it was changed. That's the idea when making body repairs..... "no evidence of it being changed" is a perfect repair.
