I tried 2:76 gears and HATED them. The car revved too low on the highway and lugged up the hills. I now have three center sections with 2:76 gears sitting in my shop.

Using a calculator and math ( which hurt my brain) I got about 2800 RPM's. 26 in tires would do the same, but I already have the 3:23 gears.

No it is a piece of aluminum I beam that worked out to be the perfect size and height for what I needed

If you want I can take a picture of what I used to bring the shifter up to the right height for a bench seat.

I found a good used one, but like was said earlier I ended up buying a new cable. Also made a mount to go under the shifter as I found it a bit low with the bench seat. Good luck!!

Both of those could be your problem. Start by getting the fluid level correct and see if you still have a leak.

Is it still over full? If so it will leak !! When you put the new convertor in did you replace the front seal?

I have a 3000 stall convertor, short 14 inch tires and 3:55 gears in my car. They work GREAT in the city, but rev a little to much on the highway. It all depends on what you plan on doing with the car. JMO

Why could you not just drill a hole then weld a nut over it and install a short bolt with a washer like is on the bolt for the oil pan to insure that it seals?

I tried running without a kick down and the tranny lasted about one week before it failed! Do NOT try it unless you are prepared to rebuild the tranny.

Just do like I do and use a GPS as your speedo- problem solved!

Don't know about what year they are, but they don't work really well in my 68 Dart with 14 inch tires. I use them as my highway gear and 3.55 as my city gears. The 2.76 gears make the car to lazy for my liking! I have a 3.23 setup that I am going to try as a good all around gear. JMO

I would go with option number one, but that depends on whether you can find all the parts needed to complete the job. If not I would go with option number two and try to find a sure grip

I think you will find that the second picture is the back of the shaft.

I have a column shifter in my Dart and can't wait to get my B&M shifter in the car! The only problem I had is that the shifter is to low with the bench seat, but I am building a platform for the shifter to sit on so it is in the right position.

I have two sets and change them depending on what I am doing with the car. 3.55's for cruising and 2.76's if I am going on a highway trip. The 3.55's with 25 inch tall tires is just a bit much for the highway, but I love them in the city!
