I took the plunge and bought a set of headers last week. The problem is that they are used and in need on paint. I am going to blast them to get them ready for paint, but am not sure how to finish them. Let me know what you have tried and what worked along with what did not work. Thanks!!

For now it is cheap headers ( Hedman) with good gaskets until I can afford the good ones. Just can NOT stand looking at the 318 manifolds anymore. Would not be so bad if they were good flowing manifolds, but that is not the case.

I was looking for advise, NOT to have someone try to sell me something. If you feel the need to let the members here know that you are selling manifolds start your thread instead of high jacking mine. I already have the headers so NO thanks.

If it was me I would not be cutting up the inner fenders to put fender wall headers on my car. JMO

Just looked at your pics, and yes shimming will not work on your car. It will work on the old style mounts like are on my car.

You can also shim your motor mounts to give you a bit more clearance

Turn the filter around the other way and make the headers fit around the steering box. A lot of the time you will have to bend the headers to fit around the steering box.

buy TTI headers and be done with it

They usually have tabs on each piace that line up and bolt together

If they are what I think they are then they are Jack Davis stepped headers. These are drag racing headers that are quite expensive to buy. A lot of the time these are custom made for a customer depending on what his combination is.

You won't beleive how far the Eastwood product goes! Get a couple of buddies to go in on a pint and you will have lots to go around for about $10.00 each.
