    Honestly...how good was the 318...mpg / durability / hp

My worst and best 318 powered vehicles, first the the worst was a 1983 Chrysler Cordoba with every available option bought new, that poor 318 was rated at a little over a 100 hp and coupled to a 2.45 8 1/4 rear. Kind of gutless in a 4000 lbs car, but I will admit engine itself ran very smooth...

"It ran when I pulled it"

Back in the late 70's my little sister and her husband bought a 318 powered 70 Charger from the original owner with some were in the high 70,000 mile range on it, car ran perfect. Around a year later they asked me to take a look at it because it was making a weird whirring noise and started...

    This Is A Heartbreaker....

I wish the best for this gentleman and his AAR. But when it comes to wearing bright yellow when working out on the roads, there is so much of this color out there now that it has become a neutral color. Everybody and their brother wears it and nobody pays attention to it any more. They should...

Has anyone ever seen an SSA Dart

Yes this one had the 15 inch rally wheels like the Corvettes had, and the disc brakes. But didn't have the air cleaner vented to the cowl, other than that it looked like a cheap 6 cyl. plain jane white Camaro with the base interior that someone put stripes and rally wheels on. This was around...

Has anyone ever seen an SSA Dart

Wasn't the factory traction bar a performance V8 4 spd add on, I say this because my brothers 67 RS conv. 327 4 spd car had that single traction bar too. I forgot about the two black stripes.

Has anyone ever seen an SSA Dart

A friend back in high school was a GTO fanatic. After high school in the early 70s he sold his pride and joy 67 GTO and all his Pontiac parts to buy this plain jane white 67 Camaro. That's the day I learned what a Z/28 was and if I remember right its only hint to what it was, was the crossed...

Has anyone ever seen an SSA Dart

Yes, but weren't the 67,68,69 Z/28 put on the protected species list and aloud to mate to the heart's content, and were there was a few now there are tens of thousands. Sorry Cuda416 I couldn't help myself I had to do it.

Slant six fly wheel and clutch on a 318?

Looks like Brewer's is out of the flywheel you would need to fit the 273/318. You would have to search here, or swap meets, or the internet for a 122 tooth V8 flywheel. Or you could switch everything over to a 10.5/130 tooth clutch and bellhousing setup.

Slant six fly wheel and clutch on a 318?

Brewer's has the bellhousing you need, it's for the early A body with a 273, 122 tooth flywheel, 9.5" clutch. He will have the clutch linkage and brackets you will need to switch from the slant 6 to your 318 too. Motor mounts you will have to look for early A body 273 mounts.

    What should I do?

No the seller was suppose to prove to PayPal that the package was shipped and that I received it, which I figure would meen tracking with a signed delivery receipt. I have never seen a response from PayPal like that before either, so the other guy must of had a few grievances against him or...

    What should I do?

I went through a failed purchase 2 months ago with a guy on another forum. He had a shift handle for sale for a $100 bucks plus shipping, I offered him $125 with shipping (if the shipping was more I made out, if less he made out), he accepted the deal. I sent the money through PayPal to his...

I need schooling - old vs. new engines

DionR Ya they do, I was told back in 2013 after I put a 6.4 cam and PSI 1511 valve springs and shorty headers not to take it to 6000 rpm or it would spit the crack and rods out of it, Ya I shifted it at 6200 with the 6.4 cam and 6500 with the custom cam and long tube headers and SRV intake and...

I need schooling - old vs. new engines

DionR the 6.4 cam is cut on a 121 LSA and has 215/221 @.050 107 ICL with 20+ degrees of retard in the VVT. The 380 Crate engines cam if I remember right was 288/292 232/236 @.050 (or it could have been 230/[email protected] i'm not sure) cut on a 108 lsa with a 106 ICL, pretty healthy street cam. The...

I need schooling - old vs. new engines

Rat Bastid, I am probably one of the few on this forum that agrees with a lot of what you have to say. But this thing with the G3 and G4 Hemis after owning 3 of them since 2006 ( 2 trucks and a 2012 Challenger R/T) is a crock of crap. The valve seat problem was a problem, but only if they were...

Did they make 5x4” axles for 8 3/4 rear ends?

Thank You Swinger 340, I forgot the part about only the 9 inch 4 wheel drums on the later A body 6 cylinder cars came with the 5x4 pattern.

Did they make 5x4” axles for 8 3/4 rear ends?

What I thought was true and and what is actually true about the rear axles and bolt patterns on the A body cars, after a lot of searching through old books is exactly what I remembered all these years. All A body cars from 1960 to 1972 with 7 1/4 and 8 3/4 rear axles came with 5x4 inch bolt...

Did they make 5x4” axles for 8 3/4 rear ends?

Contact Moser Engineering, They have the proper hub size and offset for the brakes on there axles. When I bought my Moser axles for the 70 A body 8 3/4 housing with 10 inch drum brakes that was in my 66 Dart, Moser new exactly what I needed and even offered to drill both bolt patterns in them at...

I have been doing body work all wrong.

My guess is, it's looking a lot better than the body shop hell that most guys and gals cars end up in. The body man tell you 3 to 6 months and a year and a half latter you find out on faceplant he has quit doing body work and closed up the shop and could have possibly moved out of state. Just...

Which Muscular Mopar Under $60,000 Would You Choose for Your Dream Garage?

Love to have back what I still think was by far the prettiest car I ever owned. 69 Q5 turquoise, white interior and bee stripe, bucket seat console, 383 4spd, n96 ram air Super Bee. This is a picture of the car now, the owner keeps this car immaculate, and everytime I see it I kick myself for...

4-Door with 340 from the factory?

Jim Lusk, You are right the W2 head was on the drawing board for the 78 Little Red Truck and was nixed for smog. My guess is that the W2 head does not have the exhaust heat crossover. Which would have made the EGR valve on the intake manifold inoperable which was a part of the smog equipment for...

    The great oil filter debate

The last Wix filter I bought when I changed the oil on my ecodiesel Ram said made in china on the filter when I took it out of the box, didn't sit well. On the EngineMaster show both Wix filters they tested dropped oil pressure at the top of the rpm sweep, the only thing they figured was the...

So how far back does your Mopar experience go?

Bill Crowell, My father's first car he bought after getting out of the Marine Corp after WW2 was a Nash, said it was the worst car he ever owned. When my older brother and my twin brother and I were borned we were all brought home in my Dad's 49 Dodge coupe. The year after my twin and I came...

    Car trailer Size?

Here is a picture of my Dart on my 16' trailer, more than enough trailer. To the person that said the car would contact the back of the tow vehicle, I would of had to jack knifed the trailer, bend the frame and tear the hitch off the truck first.

    Insurance while racing street car?

I hit the wall twice after doing 4 or 5 360's at the track at around the 1000 foot mark because of water on the track, I was the second set of cars down after a rain delay, first set of car where already complaining to track officials about the wet track. Car trailer Size?

I have hauled my Dart on a 16' trailer for over 17 years and my 80 Mirada for 5 years at 70+ mile an hour with absolutely no problems. When on the trailer the front tires were about a foot and a half from the front rail and the same for the back tires to the back rail. When centered like that...

Will the modern Mopar vehicles' manual transmissions bolt up to LA engines?

I just look up the depth for the RM-6070 bell which is 7.405", this is the bell for the 833 trans. So the stock TR6060 bell or the RM-8081 bell are only .066 shallower than the stock LA bellhousing. But I measured the height of the flywheel, disc, and pressure plate off a 360 LA I have and it...

Will the modern Mopar vehicles' manual transmissions bolt up to LA engines?

The bellhousing from QuickTime # RM8074 has a depth of 6.465" to fit the T-56 to a small block Mopar. The bellhousing for the new gen Hemi's RM-8081 have a 7.339" depth to fit the TR6060 which has a longer input shaft to make up for the 8 bolt dual mas thicker flywheel and dual disc clutch...

    W2 Rocker arm Identification needed

I use to run the race W2 heads 20+ years ago an I ran the bushed Mopar Performance rockers and they looked like the ones that 70aarcude is showing with the cast in numbers.
