If the wingnut is against the spool, the turning of spool will tighten nut. Put a washer next to spool, maybe even a little syn grease.

On my garage walls I used the R19 fiberglass batts and blown in fiberglass for ceiling. I priced spray foam vs the fiberglass and it was twice the price. The wall covering is 3/8" beadboard that looks better than osb and close in price. On the ceiling I used ribbed metal siding panels.

I found a large plastic pan a bit larger than engine size to catch all fluids from teardown. It sits on the plywood like you use. I bought at Tractor Supply called a rabbit pan. Worked great.

I searched for a mig wire equivalent to 6018 rod which is easily machined. There isn't any available in major wire manufacturers. I did find the easy grind wire though.

Could do 1/4" plate then put 1/2" plywood on for general work. Then pull wood off for welding table.

To help clarify the aluminum spool gun thing. The aluminum wire is soft and if you try to push from rollers in body of welder it will bunch up in liner or rollers will just spin. That is why the spool gun has short distance from roller to tip.

Both Lincoln and Miller make excellent MIG welders in 110 volt that will work well for almost all auto restore work. I have Miller 175 and it is excellent. If you check with your Lincoln dealer maybe you can trade up to MIG unit or maybe add a conversion to yours.

When I take my tools to track in my trailer, I use 1 hardbox w tray for 1/2" drive set, hammer, & big wrenches. Then I have small box for 3/8" set and small wrenches, screwdrivers, etc. That way I don't usually have to get into the big box. Makes it easier to look thru.

I used to use Rustoleum mostly. But lately Duplicolor seems to spray better. More uniform and less plugging.

I have an old coffee brewer that I use to warm spray cans. I set a timer so I don`t forget & blow it up.

Nice thing about that is you can pulley it so it moves lot of air without the wind speed.

I have two of the 1-1/2 ton aluminum jacks. They are well made and I love em.

Craftsman tools sometimes are on special sales at K-Mart. One major tool is a long 15" breaker bar for 1\2" sockets for those stuck bolts. They save ratchets.

If you put little heater strip inside tool box (or light bulb) it will keep above dew point. Can also make sealed box for machined parts and do same.
