    Home made red lenses

I suppose you could use something else, but the push rod was handy, so I used it. You could probably carve shapes into a piece of hard wood to make custom tail light lenses too. This would work well for the clear stuff too. I always keep the empty parts trees for misc. projects. Happy building!

    Home made red lenses

I have had the idea of building a model police car using odds and ends to make some of the components. The car is yet to be decided, but here is a preview of some of the red lights I'll be using. The chrome bezels are random unused custom parts from various kits. The smaller ones will be used as...

    Winter time model building thread.

This is my latest exercise in patience! I built this as a Christmas present for a friend who is a Steelers fan. Basically a stock Christine kit with a different paint scheme and wheels. The drag slicks are from a '68 Charger kit, and I hand painted the wide whites on them in several coats. The...

AMT petty kit kar $$$$$ pricey

Tower has that kit for $21.79. Pretty reasonable prices here. Check their paint supplies for the blue you need. They have PAGES of paints! On my browser, that kit is on page 2. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/WTI0094P?&N=N&F=AMTS0757&L=AMTS0850&C=SCBAMT&P=0&S=

Not all is lost on that yellow Plymouth. Just weather it and make it look like it's been wrecked. Nice job on laying down the clear on that green one!! Keep us updated with more pics.:thumrigh:

    Shafers model car thread

I do mine the same way I do a real car. Wet sand with 1500-2000 grit and buff. Remember, you're not trying to take off a lot of material, you just want to knock the orange peel off. Once the clear coat is dull, use your cutting compound and a stiff flannel buffing wheel on your Dremmel or...

    Winter time model building thread.

I wish they would reissue some of those older kits. Some time back, I read that someone was buying the old Johan molds and was supposed to start reissuing those kits, but I think the deal fell apart. I don't know for sure the old molds still exist.

That looks real!! Fantastic weathering work. You'll have to post some "how to" threads to educate us on how to "unrestore" ours. Thanks for the pics.8)

Even though you had to use the '66 body, that is a great representation of the "Outlawed". Very cool.8)

That's nice work. My local hobby shop has a couple different year models of the Hemi Under Glass car, '66 and I think he has a '67, I'll have to get back over there and look. Haven't seen a '65.

    Winter time model building thread.

Been working on this off and on. I should have masked the body and sprayed the head liner, but I brushed it instead. The foil on the headliner bows turned out o.k. But the paint just looks too thick to me. Lesson learned. You can see there is still detail paint work yet to be done, but here are...
