    Damsel in distress

Someone definitely needs to go help these ladies out before she resorts to pulling the engine prematurely. It is still possible that that's not necessary. A couple good points have been brought up: first, the oil filter gasket; and second, pull the plugs to see if any got hit by a piston (I...

    Damsel in distress

Good point here. I would check that first. Still doesn't explain the bang, though, unless the bang was a result of running out of oil, which would not be good at all.

    Damsel in distress

I hope it's nothing major, but sounds like it could be if the oil is gone, unless it just hadn't had time to drain back down yet when you checked it.

    Lower the steering wheel...

If you disconnect it from the steering box, you'll be able the drop the steering wheel all the way into the seat. Column shift probably won't drop that far, but should give you enough.

Amsoil to do a /SIX engine challenge?

I think it would be a true test of engine builders' abilities. They go off score, not just the most HP. If the HP to CI ratio is good, then the points are high. Don't remember all the parameters the points are based on.

    almost overheating

3/4 is about the upper end of normal operating temp on the old gages. If it's not going above that, I wouldn't worry. Just keep an eye on it. Might want to check your timing, too. If it's advanced too much, it will cause it to run warmer. And whatever the stock fan is that you are swapping...

    Sneaky Sleeper /6 Build

Man, that's one straight and clean looking Valiant! One question: Why are you only shooting for 14 sec? /6's are capable of way faster. Might not be cheap to build, but it would be cool to blow the doors off a V8 with a /6. I say shoot for high 11's or low 12's. I know they are capable of...

    how to remove crankshaft pulley

Well, since he said he got everything out, he either didn't need one, or he got one. Challenger, You can get a cam from lots of places, but you might want to post what you want and what you have so someone can give you some recommendations for a cam that will work with your combo.

    how to remove crankshaft pulley

Pulley bolts to the dampner (harmonic Balancer). The dampner might need a puller to get it off the crank, but you say you have it off, unless you miss-typed and you really have the pulley off, and need to get the dampner off the crank. You can buy a cheap puller at the parts store for about...

    Fresh air breather

You could put a filter on the end of the air tube that you're running by hte battery. Kind of like a lot of the newer engines. A cone shaped K&N kind of like the imports have on their CAI's. Widen the hole on the breather so it's the same size as the carb, and use a 2 or 3" spacer. Maybe you...
