I had a 68 Beaumont SD I swapped out the 396 for my small journal 327,Needless to say it walked the 396 pig all day long.

Yep i've boxed many lowers and added adjustable uppers with a bar and it worked very well on the many A-F body GM'S ran the bar similar to this pic but bolted directly through the sides with 2 bolts on each side. Ed.

For street duty i'd say the LA's are hard to beat, I like the earlier ones with the steel cranks,with a few mod's they can turn some rpm's, For race i like the 440's, There's nothing like a well built high compression 440 running c16. I have both.

I had a 327 back in the day out of a 67 vette put it in Beaumont in stock trim with the exception of headers and spanked 340's all day long, Then removed the 327 warmed it up and put a tunnel ram with 2x4's and put it in a 55 Chev 4 gear. It would eat most big blocks!!!

Thats what i did but before i welded them in, I think it was easier?
