    Learning to hate Facebook

I joined Facebook a while back and stopped using when I started getting all kinds of BS notifications. I stopped using it almost immediately after joining it. Maybe it has utility, for some folks, but I don't need it.

    New Door Rubber too Stiff

I had the same problem with my car. I ended up finding some good used windlace seals and installed them on the drivers side- passenger side was fine with the new repop windlace, so its probably variation in the sheet metal causing the problem.

    1966 valiant convertable

Sorry for the late post here, I'll get out to the garage in the next day or so and take some pics. I ended up using some rockford fosgate speakers in those panels. I do not recall the actual model number of the speaker. I mocked the panels up in place and then measured the max depth that would...

    1966 valiant convertable

I did the same removal and install on my 66 dart vert. It is a 6X9 speaker. Sometime later they went to a 4X10 speaker for the dash, maybe 67 ? You will have to take out the radio, and heater controls in all likelyhood. I installed a dual voice coil speaker in its place. The retro radio outfits...

Disc Brakes on Early A's - What solution did you choose and why?

Disc set up and manual master cylinder from 73/76 A body. Add a proportioning valve to the rear line. I chose this because it all works together nicely and is as close to stock for the large bolt pattern as you can get. Replacement & wear parts are cheap and available everywhere, only obstacle...

    66 Barracuda Heads

It depends on what you intend to accomplish with the motor. If you want it stock then you need the same casting number heads. If you dont care - then 318 heads pre 1974 or so would work, but will lower your compression ratio, open chamber design. (The old 273 heads are closed chamber.) I would...

Steering column slot acting like a heater

For what its worth - I installed a Delrin bushing that was made by a guy I found on the 62-65 c body mopar site. Its been a long time since I did that, not sure if it exists anymore as an available part. The bushing actually fits snug into the column bore and the shaft rides on the id, a snug...

    Putting a 426 Hemi in a 1966 Barracuda

A hemi in 65 cuda would sure be the wow factor - not to discourage you, but why not a stroker small block - 400 cu in or better ? Lots cheaper and no real fabbing needed. Just my .02. Take a look at the hp mopar action got out of a 360 late model roller motor...

1966 dart linkage for four barrel

Scottsman - the oem 4 bbl linkage parts are made from unobtainium. Having said that I did locate the correct parts to do my car, but it was a long time coming before I found them, after 5 + years of periodically searching - I would use the later model 4 bbl linkage and kickdown assembly from...

    Cooling problem SOLVED

Right. I was thinking that as well based on your comment. The times I tried to cool it by using the beater it threw lots of heAt. Obviously if I had done that last week it would have been a sign as well. I wAs thinking that maybe you can look through the bypass outlet at the impeller and turn...

    Cooling problem SOLVED

When I installed the original pump the impeller was tight on the shaft so it had to have loosened sometime after the first time I pulled it out and installed the anticavitation plate, because it was still tight then as well. Keep in mind this car probably only had 250 miles on it from the time...

    Cooling problem SOLVED

Glad you folks enjoyed the story - it sure took a long time to sort out. As mentioned above, I have NEVER seen an impeller do this on a mopar or any car for that matter (but I am not a professional mechanic either), but I've been farting around with cars for over 35 years. It never ceases to...

    Cooling problem SOLVED

I don't post very often, but thought some of you folks might find my story interesting. About 6 years or more ago I finished installing a 60 over warmed up 318 in my 66 dart vert. I had the core redone at a very competent local shop using a high efficiency 2 row core in the original radiator...

    A833 4 speed 86 truck?

If you are dead set on trying this install, you might be able to make it work. Only way - is if the trans has the shifter mounting all the way back, you will note that on some of the long tail shaft trans's there is a mounting location near the end of the tail housing. You could use that and fab...

    No fuel at pump inlet

The tank is held in by strap(s) that go underneath the tank and attached via a J bolt through a frame member. General procedure: Siphon out as much fuel as possible from the tank and dispose of safely. Disconnect the rubber fuel line (and fuel gauge sending unit wire) from the tank...

    Score Results

You probably already know this, but you can mount that axle in your car by moving the spring perches inboard, I think the overall width is something like 1 or 2 inches more than a standard A body 8 3/4. Find the missing axle shaft, a pair of axle perches and you should be good to go !

    Embarrased that I'm asking

I have had problems like this before, but not on a mopar small block. I bought a big socket wrench that fits on the end of the filter and has a big nut on the end of it. It has the dimples that match the dimples on the end of the filter. It also has a 3/8 square socket drive in the end of it -...

    Proportioning valve mounting

Most folks just mount them under the car somewhere after the metering block going to the rear brakes. I installed one where I put the handle sticking up under the front edge of the drivers seat so it could be adjusted while in the car. I had to take the valve apart, install a properly sized...

    Motor Mount Help

Not to open a can of worms again - but maybe mopar changed the mount ears on the 318s. I dropped a 68 318 into my 66 using the stock 273 brackets. I changed nothing on them, went in no problems. Good luck with your project.

    drive train

The trans will probably be a 727 instead of a 904. The dog house (bell housing relief) on the 66 and older A's are smallish and from what I have read, you may have problems fitting a 727 in there. Some people say you can fold over or cut off and butt weld the pinch weld seam that goes across the...

    windshield washer pump???

You can use the same vintage car Ford replacement part. However, I found the spacing on the mounting ears for the screws were different or something like that compared to the mopar pump. I dont recall exactly what the difference was, but it was annoying enough for me to do the following surgery...

    1966 dodge dart radiator question

I had the OEM 273 radiator recored for the warmed over 318 in my 66 dart. I installed the correct metal shroud. CI large vane waterpump, correct oem matched pulleys, 180 robertshaw stat etc. NO DICE. It would NOT cool. I verified that the stat was opening at 180 using a thermometer and hot water...

Your opinions on what I should do engine wise..

Something to keep in mind - a problem I ran into with my car. I put a 318 with the late model 302 casting heads in my 66 dart. I originally planned on running the cast iron 273 exh manifolds. NO GO. The drivers side exh manifold had an interference problem with the cast in boss for the heads air...
