Instead of drilling a hole, just swap out the big block for a Hemi for easier spark plug changes.

That would mean that you only end up with .001" between the piston and wall. I think any piston expands with heat more than that.

I would take a set of junk steel valve covers and weld tubes on that have a bore that is needed for a 1/4" helicoil. Make sure all the tubes are straight and weld a gusset at the top to keep it all centered and 90 degrees. Drill away and insert 10 helicoils. Dont go to deep, you may hit a port...
