    I went drag racing!

Well ****, we can add this to the list of things that went wrong. Who knew two runs down the quarter mile could be so expensive lol.

Mderoy340, what car do you have and what does your car run?

    I went drag racing!

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. I appreciate it. I just wish I could get back to the track and test out my changes. Since I have a lot more free time than I was expecting, I pulled my distributor cap and saw this.... I think that probably cant be helpful in a racing...

As stated before, no video of the race but here is the burnout before my run.

    I went drag racing!

I have a holley red electric fuel pump with the factory fuel line and fuel tank. I have a fuel pressure regulator set to 6 or 6.5 psi. Unfortunately no video of the run, just the burnout. I will see about getting the burnout uploaded.

    I went drag racing!

I manually shifted it at as close to 6000rpm as I could get it.

    I went drag racing!

I had about 20psi in the tires. I thought it was an good burnout to get the tires warm but definitely not a huge smoke show. The car launched straight and I think the track was cold since this pass was at 8pm and the outside temp was in the low 60s with a little wind. I pulled the plugs and they...

    I went drag racing!

Thanks for all of the replies, I really appreciate it. When I get home I will pull some plugs see what they look like and take a photo. I think maybe it could have been a fuel issue on the big end because it felt good taking off and then ran out of steam as it got towards the finish line. It...

    I went drag racing!

Not sure, never had it on a scale. It's a full interior car with a fiberglass hood. I'm guessing 3400-3500 with me in it? I weigh 150lbs

    I went drag racing!

Yeah the car in the other lane was a 2017 SS Camaro. The modern muscle cars were all quick.

    I went drag racing!

I went to my local track for some fun and of course, want some advice on what to do to improve this combo. I was only able to get two runs in and the first one I did not have full throttle. My 2nd run was a 13.41 @ 100. I launched at 2000rpm, to a little bit of wheel spin. The car felt good...

    Advice on moving forward

Took the car out for a drive with the new converter and I love it. I also started to try different settings on the carburetor but developed an ignition miss under load and then surging at idle? Time to follow wires, check grounds and see where this leads. Its too hot to do anything for the next...

    Advice on moving forward

AJ/FormS: I can't thank you enough for the wealth of information. Same goes for everyone else on here helping me out. I have the MSD 6AL chipped at 6000 so I have been shifting somewhere between 55-5900 rpm. I did have detonation issues on pump 91 and had to bring back the timing. But before I...

    Advice on moving forward

Rumble, I have SuperStock Springs with just some regular monroe shocks in the back. No pinion snubber. I am gonna ask about that 3rd member and see if I could pick it up this weekend. In the meantime, just waiting on some parts and then hopefully when it is not 90 plus degrees, go to the track...

Skep what rpm do you shift at? Launch rpm?

    Advice on moving forward

The 3rd member is a 741 case and yeah it isn't the most ideal case for a ring and pinion. I just ordered an edelbrock carb tuning kit and will give that a go when I make it back to a track and can actually test the changes. I do have a spring and bushing kit for my MSD distributor and will bring...

    Advice on moving forward

Thanks for the replies, no spinning off the line last time I went, I think it is just a real soft launch due to the converter and at the end I'm only trapping like 4700-4800 because of my gear. I would footbrake it to about 1800 and launch from that and it would flash to about 2400. The car has...

    Advice on moving forward

Getting ready to go back to the strip and need a little advice. I have a full weight 69 Dart with a 360/727. The 360 is about 12 years old and has about 40,000 miles on it. Dry wet compression tests show 170/195 except #6 Was 160/195. The motor has an edelbrock 650carb, edelbrock air gap, x...

    First time out Results

Not sure what pinion angle is and I will check out the shocks and see how much travel is left in them. Yeah they are for sure Super Stock springs. When I go back out, I will try and stall it as high as I can at the line and launch it that way.

    First time out Results

Just checked out MSD's website so I think I have the original red bushing. It says by swithcing to the black bushing it will limit advance to 18 degrees but what exactly would that do for my engine? I currently have the 2 light springs in the distributor and run 18 initial and I think 34/36 total.

    First time out Results

Hey Crackedback, I think I have the stock bushing in the distributor at the moment, I have not changed that before. Is the black bushing the most aggressive or something? I do have 18 initial in it and yeah, it sucks, I think a gear swap would help the most outside of changing the converter to...

    First time out Results

Sorry for the delay, but I for some reason could not post the video that had a better angle at the starting line. All I have is the following video, kinda useless. I think I am misunderstanding the design of the SS springs. I thought that when launching the car, the rear should squat, and from...

Old Man Rick: Thanks for the info, yeah I think a converter is needed for sure but I do drive it a lot on the freeway (30 miles one way) so I am a bit worried about trans temps. Thanks for the advice on just trying to stall it as high as I can and launch. The car launches soft and the stall and...

I have found through other posts that C-body shocks work well? Or would the mancini racing drag shocks be better?

    First time out Results

Didnt go as fast as I was hoping but had a lot of fun. Car wheel hopped like crazy during the burnout and could not get a decent launch no matter what. Felt like it launched ok, just needed higher stall converter. It currently just has SS springs with monroe shocks. I had MT Et Streets on it and...

    What Size Drag Radials?

Yeah they were mounted backwards and had to change that. But my first time at the track went well. Didnt go as fast as I was hoping but was glad I was able to get in a few runs, not break anything, and learn from my car what I need to do next time out. Car wheel hopped like crazy during the...

    What Size Drag Radials?

I think 255's would fit for sure, today is the big day though. I am off to the track in a few hours and going to see how it goes. If I can go, get some runs in, and not break anything I will be happy. Hoping for a low 13/high 12 though.

    What Size Drag Radials?
