Wipers - Won't stop at bottom

Mine only park if I shut them off on the way down. If I turn them off on the way up, they just stop.

    4 stroke engine understanding test.

Each revolution of the crankshaft fires 4 of the 8 cylinders. RPM is strictly related to crankshaft revolutions. 1 RPM is the crankshaft turning at the rate of once per minute. At 6,000 rpm, you would have 24,000 total "compressions" (in a 4 stroke 8 cylinder engine) per minute, and 48,000...

    Summit Distributor problems

Problem solved.... I returned the Standard box to the auto parts due to poor fit of the wire harness and got a refund. I bought the Mopar Performance chrome box, it fits perfect and the car runs great, also moved it to the fender to keep away from the heat of the firewall area. For those...

    Engine died. Now won't start

With the key in "run" position, therer should be voltage at the coil "+" terminal. Should be less than battery voltage due to the ballast resistor. If no voltage there, use a jumper wire from the battery positive to the coil positive. Now see if it starts or at least see if there is spark...

    Summit Distributor problems

Well, I wasnt ready to make the plunge on the MSD 6AL without knowing for sure if the ignition control module was the problem, so I bought a $20 Standard box from the auto parts store, and the motor runs much better now. It revs to 6,000 rpm and runs like it used to. I see what you guys mean...

    Summit Distributor problems

Swapped the coil for an extra I had on hand, didnt fix the problem. I checked voltage at the coil last week, it was 9 volts while running if I remeber correctly. Next step is the box itself. Right now its a toss up between the chrome box and the MSD/Summit 6AL Thanks for the replies

    Summit Distributor problems

Do you consider the Mopar Performance orange box a quality replacement? It is rated to 6,000 rpm. How about the chrome box? Its supposed to be good to 8,000 rpm.

    Summit Distributor problems

It's getting worse. After installing a MP distributor, new plug wires, cap & rotor, it still wont rev past 4000 rpm. Almost like a rev limiter is kicking in. I am going to try swapping the coil, then the control box if the coil doesnt cure it. Anyone have a similar problem?

    Dual electric fans, FIRE!

Most switches that activate relays are simple grounds. Use the switch to activate the ground side of the relay. Running power to the toggle is more time consuming and more dangerous. Plus with a ground switch, you only need to run 1 wire and no fuse is needed on the toggle, only for the...

    1988 Dodge Pickup Stalling

Don't forget the coolant temperature sensor. They are very reliable and usually do not fail, but when the do, the default is to show that the engine is cold, and more fuel is injected. if the engine is warm, the extra fuel would show up as black smoke from the exhaust.

    Starter? Coil? Bad ground?

That is common. The headers release too much heat, the starter gets hot, and needs more amperage from the battery to get it to turn. If the battery is old, and you plan on replacing it, get the biggest battery that fits, the one with the highest cold cranking amps. Also, make sure the...

    Relays & there main purpose/function?

What he said. Basically control a large amperage circuit with a small amperage switch. Also more than one source can activate the relay.

    Coil mounting

Any truth to this: Ive heard that it should be mounted so that the positive and negative posts are at the 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position. Something about the oil inside protecting the coil better.

I have a friend with a 2006 Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi. The check engine light is on. I hooked it up to my computer, but cannot get my program to "recognize" that it is hooked up to the truck. I do not have any trouble retrieving codes from other cars with this program. It has worked before on a...

Blinkers, Dash, and Brake light problems. 1974 Scamp

My Dash lights didn't work either. The car had been sitting for 20 some odd years. I removed the headlight switch and used electrical contact cleaner (lots of it) over the course of several days. It cleaned the contacts and POOF! the dash lights work perfectly now.

Anyone know for sure what these are?

1st picture is alternator wiring, the 90 degree is water temp sensor. 2nd picture is the ground to the starter solenoid, should be on the drivers inner fender near the battery. When the auto trans is in neutral or park, that is grounded and lets you start the engine. 3rd picture: wild...

    How to set breaker points?

Step one: remove distributor Step two: install electronic distributor. Step three: set pick up coil gap once and forget it. The car will start and run much better with the electronic ignition. I'm not trying to be a wise guy. In the end, you will be much happier and less frustrated.

    Stupid Dart Gauges

You can also remove the headlight switch, and apply power to the wire that goes to the rear lights. If the fuse still blows, the switch is OK. If the lights work properly, the switch is no good.
