Do you consider the Mopar Performance orange box a quality replacement? It is rated to 6,000 rpm. How about the chrome box? Its supposed to be good to 8,000 rpm.

It's getting worse. After installing a MP distributor, new plug wires, cap & rotor, it still wont rev past 4000 rpm. Almost like a rev limiter is kicking in. I am going to try swapping the coil, then the control box if the coil doesnt cure it. Anyone have a similar problem?

Don't forget the coolant temperature sensor. They are very reliable and usually do not fail, but when the do, the default is to show that the engine is cold, and more fuel is injected. if the engine is warm, the extra fuel would show up as black smoke from the exhaust.

My Dash lights didn't work either. The car had been sitting for 20 some odd years. I removed the headlight switch and used electrical contact cleaner (lots of it) over the course of several days. It cleaned the contacts and POOF! the dash lights work perfectly now.
