    LT1 T56 Transmission to LA 360 swap

To the OP, I'd forget that t56 and save for the new TKX five speed. Gonna be alot less of a headache. I have a new magnum and wish this had been out at the time I grabbed mine. I'd have been all over it.

    DIAPHRAM CLUTCH HYDRAULIC T/O BEARING

Put in gear, jack up rear and see if rear tires turn. they shouldn't of course.

    DIAPHRAM CLUTCH HYDRAULIC T/O BEARING

Either the hydraulic bearing is engaged, trans didn't go into gear or driveshaft not installed.

    T56 Trane mods

Several varieties of Chevy ones. Early ones were pre-LS late 90's units and bolt to small block chevy. Then the next were LS ones then they revamped them to T6060. Vettes & Cadillacs use different units that won't work for most swaps. I would look at the new TKX 5 speed unit. Smaller and ol'...

    Throw out bearing

I like the roller pilot out of later model truck/vans along with a new centerforce, hays, Mcleod throwout bearing. The roller pilot sits in the larger crank register where the torque converter hub would sit.

    clutch pedal binding?

I'd call McLeod on this one personally. Even if you don't have their clutch, it's worth a chat. Or Brewer's.

    Replacement Clutch

I switched my cruiser to a Centerforce CFII not the dual friction on the recommendation of CF tech dept. Never liked the Hayes units and have used three finger style forever. This CFII clutch is the best I've ever run for a 400hp cruiser. Very smooth, no chatter and light pedal. I'd buy another...

4 Spd slight grinding when shifting.

AJ: My 833 is rebuilt but still doesn't shift smooth at higher rpms compared to many other 4 speeds I've driven over the years. My bud says it's simply heavy gears & physics. Is there a list of changes that I could make to a spare trans to get it to shift well at 6500rpms +?

A833 O/D What will it handle?

Grab spare and rebuild it. That way you have a fresh one on the bench if something happens. Much easier than trying to rebuild one in a weekend so you can get to work on monday.

    4 speed questions

FYI: There's one posted on moparts yesterday under A-Body parts to compare prices with. A true 4 speed can typically be had for $350-$450 and they're around so don't think this is your only choice unless you really want the OD feature.

    4 speed questions

If it's an overdrive there's a good chance you won't really like the gear spread. It's like driving a dump truck. There are plenty that try one cause there cheaper, lighter and available. Most switch to a regular 4 speed down the road. Just how it is. My current one is a 4 speed guts in one of...

    4 speed questions

Probably an aluminum overdrive trans. Not likely what you want.

    BB clutch removal

Not a bad time to pull the motor if you want to clean, replace any leaking gaskets & repaint. About the only thing left would be the motor mounts & cooling system from just pulling the trans & bellhousing.

    Jerico

That must be awesome to shift 2nd @ 7500 without a clutch. Always wanted to run one myself. Problem is the street manners is a little rough.

4 speed shifter problems need help here

Not sure I'd drill the shifter yet. Tough to fix that if wrong. Maybe you can get a different end for the rod.

    Throw out bearing

If you haven't I'd replace with a newer roller pilot while it's out. I've had issues like that in the past. Once I spent $$ to have a flywheel balanced to a 360. Assembled everything, new clutch, etc only to have the disk catch on the inside edge of the flywheel. Made a racket. Apparently I had...

    Throw out bearing

Damn, they have a great rep. My buddy runs one & that'll be my next. Have a Hayes now & not a fan.

    Throw out bearing

If both springs are holding the bearing & the fork is on the stud correctly then I'd say it's got to come apart for inspection. Whose clutch? Wonder if you over-extended one of the fingers or a spring in the clutch hat could have broke/come loose.

    Throw out bearing

Could be a bad bearing or clutch finger, imo. Likely needs to come apart again. Can you look from the bottom or side & make sure the bearing is on the fork correctly? Mine has a blowshield so I can only look thru the fork hole.

Cannot align A833 into bell housing!!!!

You just tap them in gently with a block of wood. Do you have a dodge dealer nearby? They'll likely have them on the shelf & know what you need. Take a copy of the link I posted. Edit: Since it goes in smooth without the clutch then it'll just need just a snug with the bolts when you reassemble...

Cannot align A833 into bell housing!!!!

Use the newer bushing. Much easier, especially to remove in the future. Think mine's from a 90's van or dakota. As mentioned, clean the bearing retainer on the trans & make sure the bell slides over. Then install the bell on the motor (no clutch or throwout bearing) & install the trans to make...

Cannot align A833 into bell housing!!!!

If it's been together before then I've simply cinched down slowly with bolts. Don't get crazy & snap an ear off but it'll tighten up. Could be a tight pilot, paint on the hub, ect.

    Trans problems

Shifter wobble is likely a worn out shifter unit. Other possibility is a worn transmission mount or even broken motor mount. Won't be internal from trans.
