Not everyone's cup of tea. 71 Demon

Not a fan of the stripes. but if that's the biggest complaint in the thread you did pretty well:D
  3. 95teetee

    Demon got painted this weekend.

I'm not usually a fan of black-painted bumpers, but I really like the way those ones look with the plum crazy.

72 Scamp... you know, looks like a Dart...

definitely a lot easier to leave it off than to change your mind later lol...

72 Scamp... you know, looks like a Dart...

I'm with ya there- nobody mentioned it for a couple pages so I wasn't going to say anything, but since you brought it up...mine: I liked it on there, as much as on my Duster updates! updates!

    A body Rat rod

agreed- as soon as you do anything to the 'paint', it can no longer be considered a rat rod (imho). agreed again- what the hell is the attraction nowadays to flat/satin paint? I have never, ever, once, in my 48 years on this planet, heard someone say "oooh, that car is so nice and satin!!!!"...

    Restored my hood scoops

love the finish- my scoop and spoiler are about due for refinishing (didn't bother last year- just stuck 'em on) and I'll have to check out that paint.

    72 duster Build progress

you're welcome. :D seriously though, your car is going to be one of the nicest on the forum* and every day it's getting closer to perfect. * not that it isn't already, I just mean when it's finished (or as close to finished as it will be- of course some of us are never finished)

I like the silver tails with the stripe- look good together. package tray looks good- I did mine basically the same way, but got lazy and just cut out for speaker grills. And I used vinyl for the covering. btw, I used that 3m spray adhesive (super77 I think) and all summer I've been having a...

at least a painted cap can be swapped out with a chrome one any time (and back and forth)- if that's the only complaint someone has that's pretty damn good:D

love it with the stripes- still debating putting some on mine (my brother picked up a set, but they're '73, so that won't work) and yours makes me more convinced that I'll put some on (although no 340 callout until I get the 416:D).

looking real good (I wish the metal on mine had been in that good of shape):thumblef: Are you not taking the door handles and locks off for that work?

    A little advice please

I'm shocked you didn't use the term "rolling coal" which is so popular with the guys who think they have fast trucks. The best thing about them is that I'm always in front of them when the black smoke starts to fly lol.

    my '72 Duster

I probably could, but if you don't want to spend $700 a gallon, I don't think this is the stuff you want. If I'd known how much my 'friend' was going to charge me for materials and spraying them, I would have went to a stranger.
  23. 95teetee

    my '72 Duster

I didn't paint it myself, just did the bodywork. I asked my painter for the leftover paint, and it's in a PPG tub (it's waterbased) but I don't know for sure that that means anything (he did tell me the clearcoat itself was $800, so the paint was probably pretty expensive too)
  24. 95teetee

    my '72 Duster

thanks man- good luck with yours, too- a '72 Duster is always a great place to start:D

    my '72 Duster

my brother told me today that the work on my new motor has begun- the virgin 340 block and 416 kit have gone to the machine shop for assembly to begin. He also has a set of X heads there for me. Gonna be some fun:D

    Barn find 72 340 duster

he's working on the sharktooth grille- it takes longer to mask one of those than a whole car. (and I would know lol) but I'm looking forward to seeing this car getting done too:D

How rare is a 1970 Grand coupe

I would say do it the way you want... It's not like you're taking a car that has never been altered and customizing it- it can be put back to original next time. My two cents worth anyways:)

fm3 coded 340 auto duster resto...............
