The bump is in fact the retaining anchor. When the parts are matched and new it works perfectly. But after 47 years, who can say. You may have to convince the tab to to a better job by studying how it works and helping it to do it's job. Or, like me; put a zip-tie on it, lol.

Get a spare hood and knock yourself out.

The studs on mine were long enough that I just lifted them and cut holes in the hood underneath them. I think I got 3/8th inch all round. I think that mathed out to about 30 square inches or more. That was in the early 2000s

They say that the 1969 Barracuda hood is the same hood used on beak-cars. I do not know if that is true.

What I remember is that on My 340Dart the holes were nearer the back of the scoop; I could be wrong; but for sure they were bigger; they were huge to my 17 year old eyes. Also, IIRC they were centered in the scoop.

FWI 69 housings are not same as 67, and 68 didn't have back-ups down there. 67s will not fit on a 68 valance but 69s will.

I'm with this, and additionally IMO it could be at least 30 to 50% wider at the top edge of the fender, folded over the top and the front edge continuing at some shallow angle a bit further forward to join up with the hood, while the rear edge immediately takes a 90* off the fender to the hood...

maybe so but just to the outboard of the stacks are drainage channels that dump behind the fenders, or on some models there are vents in the firewall. Those channels get plugged with all manner of detritus.

Weld it on last after the E-brake cable has been installed. Those other two look like brake-line and fuel-line hangers.
