    Cars that sit awhile.

Have to rotate the vehicles KD! I have 3 daily drivers so I rotate which one I drive every couple of weeks. The hot rod gets started once a month and driven around the block a few times. I'm probably going to sell it someday just because I don't really need a hot rod anymore. Had it 40 years so...

Selecting power valve method Holley 4160

This discussion is a fine argument for EFI! Seriously, I switched to EFI just because of how difficult it is to get all of the analog circuits in a carb dialed in correctly in a dual purpose car. The power circuit (PV) is a great example of how a fairly simple valve can become super complicated...

    Throttle cable problems

You should be in luck with a new cable from Mancini. You just have to make sure which firewall mount that you have (round or square) and then measure the length.

Hilborn Fuel injection - small block Mopar

We had a customer bring in a small block Chevy with a vintage Hilborn setup that had been converted to EFI. The guy who did the conversion charged him a bunch of money and gave him a smoke show about how great it would run. Ran like crap. Couldn't even get it to idle cleanly. So paying a bunch...

Hilborn Fuel injection - small block Mopar

Looks cool but good luck getting it to work. Those stack systems will only run on alky, they don't work with gas. You'll need to find an old timer with a big box of pills to dial it in for you. Lots of compression, fixed timing and a high idle speed will be your friend. If your tuner is really...

    Sniper wiring

This is a common problem since Holley doesn't explain how to install a Sniper into a Mopar. Depending on which ignition setup you use you have to tie IGN 1 and IGN 2 together with the various pink wires. If you use a Hyperspark ignition kit you'll have a pink wire from the Sniper, a pink wire...

Holley Sniper on 700 hp big bock

You should've bought the Holley 12-389 muscle car EFI module. If you bought the 12-389 then it drops into the tank and it has the regulator, pump and pre-filter built in. All you need to complete the install is a high pressure line that runs from the tank to the Sniper and a 10 micron filter...

Holley Sniper on 700 hp big bock

Here is another video of the car. This video was shot during the initial start up. Headers were open since the exhaust system wasn't installed yet. The car had just been painted but the trim wasn't installed yet. Most of the interior was yet to be installed.

Holley Sniper on 700 hp big bock

I've never had to shield Sniper wires. I just make sure that any Sniper wire is at least 4 inches away from any spark plug wire.

Holley Sniper on 700 hp big bock

Check the instructions on the in tank pump that you bought. Typically the in tank modules have a regulator built in. You don't need 1/2 inch fuel line with EFI, 3/8 inch will be more than enough. When the pressure is 60 psi you don't need a big line.

Holley Sniper on 700 hp big bock

Wiring is very important with a Sniper since you are feeding a low voltage microprocessor from a 12 volt automotive system. You really need to be super careful when installing the wiring for a Sniper. You also need a really good high pressure fuel system for a Sniper. Holley does make some drop...

Holley Sniper on 700 hp big bock

This is a Holley Sniper X Flow on a 505 inch Mopar big block. This engine is a little more radical than most street/strip builds. The owner went with higher than usual compression ratio, used Trick Flow 270 heads and installed a 264/268 solid roller cam. The nice thing about the...

Edelbrock Pro Flo 4 injection 340 motor any test out there?

The Edelbrock system is a black box. It can't be adjusted and you can't run data logs. I would never recommend buying any Edelbrock EFI stuff. If you want to go EFI then look into the stuff that Holley sells. They have throttle body kits and port injection kits.

    Holley sniper efi

I wouldn't have a problem buying a used Sniper as long as I can power it up and review the sensor data. If all of the sensors are reading correctly then it should be good to go.

    Holley sniper efi

I've installed and tuned dozens of Snipers including the one on my Coronet. The Sniper is a really nice entry level EFI system. They are fairly easy to tune and work on but there is a bit of a learning curve. The install is much more difficult than Holley claims, but any decent mechanic can get...

    Fuel tank vent in trunk

That will probably work okay but I think it would be better if you used flexible lines. And the lines don't need to be very big, #3 or #4 will be fine. There isn't much air flowing thru the vent.

Junkyard FI Intake manis, fuel rails, throttle bodies for 440 Mopar

I agree, a Sniper will work just fine. I just finished tuning a Sniper on a 700 hp big block. Starts without touching the gas pedal and sits and idles as long as you want.

Junkyard FI Intake manis, fuel rails, throttle bodies for 440 Mopar

EFI on a Mopar big block is a "do it yourself" sort of project. There are plenty of parts available but none of them are really beginner friendly. You'll need to do some research and follow instructions to put EFI on a big block Mopar. Good luck.

Sniper EFI Return on Stock Tank With Drop in Fuel Pump; How?

You don't need a return line with that EFI fuel tank module. Just hook up the pressure line to your existing fuel line and then connect the fuel line to input at the Sniper. Cap off the return fitting on the Sniper.

Holley Sniper vs. Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4

Exactly, what matters to most customers is the price point not the technology. I think the best value from Holley right now is the Terminator X Stealth. It is a throttle body but the ECU sits inside the firewall so that helps with RF noise issues. The Terminator X has more features than the...

Holley Sniper vs. Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4

I did the same thing on my 512. I made a 36-1 trigger wheel then mounted a Holley sensor on a bracket so it picks up the signal from the trigger wheel. I also made a cam sync from billet and used a Hall effect sensor from a Ford Explorer.

Holley Sniper vs. Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4

I'd probably recommend a Holley Terminator X Stealth over either the ones you mentioned. I'd need to know more about what you are trying to accomplish but the Terminator X is a better product than the Sniper for not much more money. Terminator X and X Max Stealth 4150 - Holley

Holley Sniper vs. Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4

A dual sync should be fine for most engines. I've used dual syncs on race engines even though the conventional wisdom is to switch to a crank trigger for racing. I use a crank trigger on my Duster engine with coils but that is kind of overkill for a street engine. It looks cool and it works...

Holley Sniper vs. Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4

It is a full Holley Hyperspark ignition system. Hyperspark distributor, coil and ignition box. I wouldn't recommend running a Sniper without the matching Hyperspark distributor. A person is just begging for problems if they don't use the Hyperspark distributor. Here is a picture of the coil...

Holley Sniper vs. Edelbrock Pro-Flo 4

I'm doing a Sniper XFlow install on a 700 hp big block right now. It takes a lot of work to get the wiring correct. Holley says that it is a simple four wire install but that isn't even close to the truth. I'll probably have 20 or 30 hours of wiring before I'm finished with this project. Of...
