    Speed pro old cam specs?

My paper shows it 236, and the 1144r 230. Ive used Rhoads on a friends car with an isky mega cam with 244 @ 50, and my dad's gtx had them in with a 284 484 mopar cam years ago when he got it. Bot ran great and acted smaller at idle. I have read many instances where people have nothing but good...

    Speed pro old cam specs?

I've worked on a 440 with the next smaller cam on the list. 230 @ 50 on a 109. That's actually a really nice driving cam with a mellow idle a good torque. Quiet valve train too.

    Speed pro old cam specs?

    Actually I was thinking if it was 242 @ 50. But 236 on a 112 isn't that much overlap

    Speed pro old cam specs?

The engine in question has an actual 9 to 1. Not that much compression. I think it'd work well

    Speed pro old cam specs?

I Was thinking about using it with a set of Rhoads lifters I have.

    Speed pro old cam specs?

    And it measures 487 lift.

    Speed pro old cam specs?

So I just found this. I guess I'll just have to degree it. Also I put it in my lathe and measured lift with a dial indicator. It's .487 lift.

    Speed pro old cam specs?

I've got an old Speed Pro CS181R camshaft for big block, and am looking for specs. I have not had a big block apart lately to pop it into and degree it. Anyone out there have an old catalog?

    Another 383 I dynoed

That's the dyno operator. I need to tell him to start it lower next time.

    Another 383 I dynoed

I put this together last winter for a friend. It was an assembled engine he got with a car. I took it apart, had the assembly balanced and the hone lightly redone. It has speed pro pistons, 8.8 to 1 with a felpro gasket, 2.14, 1.81 valves, I did a little porting in the bowls, Comp Xe268 cam...

    Dynoed my cheap 383

What are the specs of your engine, if you don't mind?

    Dynoed my cheap 383

I believe it's largely in the head prep. Good valve job and some porting. And the parts have to work together. Too often people install the wrong cam with a given compression ratio.

    Dynoed my cheap 383

I've built 2 very basic 383s and both made 380hp. With stock intakes.

    Dynoed my cheap 383

I cut the seats for the bigger valves using a Serdi. Then did a little porting.

    Dynoed my cheap 383

But seems like a very mild build to me, for basically 1 hp per cu in.

    Dynoed my cheap 383

I was pretty surprised. I built one for a friend last winter. 383, 8.8 to 1, 906 heads with 2.14 1.81 valves, mild bowl port, Comp xe268, made 380 hp and 421 torque. With the stock intake and a 750 quick fuel carb

    Dynoed my cheap 383

there definitely would be an increase with that intake. But I wanted to have the stock choke functional.

    Dynoed my cheap 383

It would be, but it's the original numbers matching engine for my 70 Coronet 500.

    Dynoed my cheap 383

It had a little sputter at 5600. I had a points distributor in it, I'm thinking that was the problem so we just stopped at 5600. On the second pull, my first brand new set of Blue Streak points fell apart. I had to run to a parts store and get more. I won't run points on the dyno again.

    Dynoed my cheap 383

    Yes, original 70 cast iron.

    Dynoed my cheap 383

Here is an engine I just dynoed. Thought some of you might find it interesting. Put together with mostly used parts I had. 1970 383 with the original cast pistons. Ball honed and new rings. All new bearings. 516 heads I mildly ported and installed used 1.74 exhaust valves. Compression came out...

    Low compression 440 dyno test

Yes they sure did. This is the engine before I freshened it. As you can see it has a . 045 dish.

    Low compression 440 dyno test

I planned to, because I'm curious also. Just never got around to it.

Not mine, R&R performance Spring Lake Park MN.

    Low compression 440 dyno test

I tried a torker, much less torque under 4500 rpm than the dual plane. Tunnel rams run great. I have one too, it was on a 9.5 to 1 440 I built years ago. I'm sure it'd run well on this current engine too.

Grinding, " diesel " noise under valve covers

First thing I thought. My dad has a GTX with a 440 in it. The motor was built years ago, I'm assuming with TRWs in it. Sounds exactly like his video.

    Low compression 440 dyno test

The cam is surprisingly nice driving as well. It smoothes out just off idle. With an electric choke and one heat crossover open in the intake, it warms up quick and runs really nice. My tranny is a newer one with part throttle kick down, so with just a little pedal it drops a gear and the torque...
