Just got this going this fall with ironside (Andre) here on the board here in Kalamazoo. 5.9 Mag out of a Ram for $300. Rebuilt it stock bore block and stock rotating assembly. Hughes roller, and Iron Ram heads. Re-used my LA Eddy air-gap and 750dp. Runs really really strong. No dyno tests but...

808 Duster....Listen to Rob (crackedback) here. He knows what he's talking about. Every comment he's made is relevant and helpful. Try a diff carb like a 750dp, do a compression check too, and go from there. Report back and let us know what you find. Rob is right with that mph your not making...

Pull the heads. Have someone massage them real good. Maybe a slightly bigger hyd roller cam from somewhere like Hughes or a Lunati VooDoo. Gasket match and or port the intake. Upgrade carb and ignition if need be and buy some dynomtime and tune tune tunemtill it's razor sharp! Next step may be...

Flat-Tappet cam? Never...no need. If you feel you have to use a synthetic, then add a bottle of ZDDP additive to each oil change

I agree on the Holley based design...I've had great results w/ 650 DP's on my smallblocks, and even a custom built 650 HP on my 340 when Edelbrocks just didnt cut it. They ran fine, but just didnt perform like a Holley did. Just figured a 750 would be a bit much, especially a DP. The vac...

You have hte 750 on a 318? I was going to get the 600 for my 360, thinking I ran a Eddy 750 on a 340 and it was a little too big! How's your 318 built? I cant imagine a stock(ish) 318 needing a 750? Details please! If I'm getting one for my 360 I'm now re-thinking the 600...

Which carb gives the best MPG and power?....the one that's tuned correctly runs the most efficiently! There's no one carb that's going to be the golden ticket out of the box. Keep what ya got as long as it's in the right CFM range and tune it...if you have the Demon and the Holley...tune both...

For a 400hp 390ci stroker, 3/8" would be fine. Plus 3/8" sending units are about half as much as a 1/2" unit! If you do plan to go more wild in the future, then it would make sense to go 1/2" while your at it.

Loose the cam...get something smaller. You'll be happy you did. Check out Hughes for a good selection. Hydraulic or Solid either one. Get some 3.55's or 3.91's and shoot for 1500-6000 range. You'll love the low end torque on the street and you'll have the potential to hit 12's at the strip forsure.

Run 3/8" minimum, 1/2" preferred with that set-up same size for supply and return. I agree w/ Crackedback - If you plan on racing you dont want to loose fuel pressure!

Great service, great products...I've got one of their cams going in my 340 this spring when the damn temp gets above single digits...Dave was kind enough to email back/forth with me for a better part of a day before I bought my cam.

Nicely done on a budget! Only thing I may splurge on is a little bigger cam maybe from Hughes. Just to give it extra punch. You may find a newer Edelbrock 600 carb to be nicer too...but again, if you get the TQ to act right then use it!

I tend to agree....if your running one and dont need to change, then it's fine. But if your putting a new cam in. Why not take advantage of the new profiles? Heck, Hughes has some hydraulics that rock the house these days and probably be more "streetable" yet deliver the same (or more) power as...

Currently running a .508 Purple shaft and ol' skool Torker 340 intake. In my opinion I'd run a Voodoo 268, if I had the choice, but my cam runs good in my car. So it's not a "bad" choice, just maybe not the "ideal" choice...
