Well I happen to know that Jari has dug himself out of the snow and is headed to the track shortly with a fresh 273 stuffed under his Dart's hood. In the meantime I've already gotten my first two race weekends in First down at VIR for an SCCA Regional Club Racing double (in a 1980 Pinto, Yeah I...

Will my hood pins be enough?

Finished the hood fitment this past Sunday. Installed the leading edge trim with a piece of 1/16" wall aluminum angle stock backing it up and two short pieces tying the front of the hood to the underside of the outboard hood pin reinforcing plates: If this doesn't keep the hood...

Will my hood pins be enough?

I'm using a race weight hood on my '66 Dart and nailing down the front 8" has been problematic. Above about 134 it would start to flutter with 4 pins across the radiator support and interim measures involving HD zip ties eventually failed leading to the installation of a new hood. This time...

Quick Release Steering Wheel in 65 Dart GT

Hi Dibbons, On the street they certainly serve as a theft deterrent (as long as you take it with you or at least put it in the trunk; otherwise it's more of a theft opportunity), however the main benefit of a detachable wheel is to make getting in (and especially) getting out of the car easier...

    408 oil pan

Another vote for the Milodon road race pan. Excellent ground clearance, genuine 7 quart system capacity, really good oil control... Have gone out on track, forgetting to turn on my accusump and NOT had the 25 Psi oil light come on anywhere on the Summit Point main circuit. Dave :D

Got it from Amazon last week and leafed through it on Saturday, Definitely worth going back to do a detailed read later. Tantalizing mention of the Group 44 Dart having turned up in the '80s but no real details on that car (a friend of mine has the an alignment receipt with spec's for that...

which harness style, latch or camlock

Latch, they are cheaper and less likely to get released accidentally; although this is less likely and less of a problem at the drag strip than it is on a road course.

Well, I COULD post another Ford photo as I DO have a '66 Mustang that runs in SCCA Solo competition in C/Prepared (422 RwHp, 25"x13" slicks and 16"x12" wheels all around), but I'll just post these two. My '66 A/Sedan Dart and my '66 Formula S (C/Prepared "lite") Barracuda.

    Crazy idea for 318

I didn't want to start a whole new thread so i ran a search for something related. Yep, my current heads are limiting the out put, but it would only take another 45 - 50 CFM on the intake to be right there without even needing race gas. :D Also curious to see if the OP actually beat Dad...

    Crazy idea for 318

Here's the 318 combo that's going into my Vintage Road Race '66 Dart: I don't think it would run the number we're looking for here, with the current heads/intake. But it sure would with some ported LA-X heads and either an RPM Airgap, or single plane manifold. '69 318 0.050" over bock, K1...

Trans-Am info for the 1966 Barracuda

Hi Chris, This is a great project to take on. The early Barracudas and Darts are actually a better place to start to build a road race car than the Mustang (having built/tuned on all three I speak with a little experience: http://users.erols.com/dmapes/ ). Most of the vintage rule sets out...
