I found the EBC yellow brake pads grab a lot better than the typical street pads. They work on the street while cold but are good on the track when hot.
I got a pair of rotors from brakeperformance.com. They vary $140 to 170 a pair with pads. The slotted and dimpled units work great on the road courses.
I have had that problem with the OEM KH brakes. Make sure the rotors are clean. The pads can make a huge difference. I switched to EBC Yellow pads and they grab a whole lot better. Ran last night at Pocono with racing pads and they really grab.
Firm Feel has a performance set. They worked well on the street for me but got cooked up at Watkins Glen. That's when I switched to the EBC yellows and added Brake Performance slotted rotors. It works great on the OEM KH calipers.
SSBC used to sell a hub in their drum to disc conversion kit that had both bolt patterns on it. It might be available as an individual part. Try SSbrakes.com for a phone number.
I have a manual, so that is in neutral. When I lift and brake at speed, I see up to 24 InHG. I use to get that with the smaller cam, even though it idled at 19 InHG, so braking is the same at speed.
I see rotors are available without the hub. Has anyone tried mounting a new rotor on an old hub? Ehrinburg says it would then need to be trued up by a machine shop, maybe not, the run out would be easy to check after mounting.
I was wondering the same thing. They might help keep oil from the motor hitting the rotors, but as far as rain goes there is no shield for the outer side so why have them for the inner. I have them on but maybe they should come off for the road course.
I had the same problem. I put in new shoes and springs. Pads and shoes are Firm Feel's metal ceramic. Even with bigger tires they would still lock up. I added a proportioning valve from SS Brakes and dialed it down a half a turn at a time until they stopped locking (3.5 turns total). I spent...
