Sounds about right. I took one out of a 1984 Dodge ram that had a 65 amp rating. It was a Napa refurbished one. However I would not go past 60-65 without upgrading the wiring.

Yep just put in and go! The only thing I had to replace was the turn signal relay to a more LED friendly one. Once I switched everything to LEDs. Make sure you get the brightest ones!

Heat is a normal function of a resistor. But not too hot, if its smoking that's bad, if its just hot then it should be working fine. Yes I had a resistor go poof on one of my old Dodge rams.
