    W.T.F ?

There's lots of good advice here. Why did you change the wires in the first place? Unless they were old and dirty or had continuity issues or if the car didn't run good with them before, then why bother with the expense and hassle of changing them? I would put the car back exactly the way it was...

Mini denso alternator from 92 dakota questions

What would be the advantage to using one of these newer alternators versus an older one? The engine mounting would have to be custom built for sure. Lighter weight and better internals would be my guess, but could the factory wiring be adequate for it's output?

10 years old Die hard Gold

Personally, i like Rusty's idea of dumping the old acid in the dirt and flushing it out with clean water. You could probably fill a 5 gallon pail with the old stuff including the flushings and drive across town to dump it so you don't get caught dumping it near your home. I would go at midnight...

Quest to getting my Slant six to turn over

My advice is to get a FACTORY service manual for your car ASAP and use it to track down your problem. Don't buy one of the cheap knock offs like Clymer or Haynes, get a genuine factory one. You'll be using it lots in the future anyway, so it will be money well spent.

Issue with turn signals in 70 Dart

I'll bet it's the bulbs are not properly grounded or defective. I've even seen new ones that don't work out of the box new. Maybe try some known bulbs out of one of your other cars and see what happens. If not, i would try the known flashers out of the same car to narrow it down. Then if that...

69 Dart GTS 383 4 Speed Completely Original

if you replaced the regulator with a cheap offshore one and it charged for a day and then quit, that's the first place i would look. They have contact points in them, and if you take the cover off, you can see if the points look bad. I would have the alternator tested, clean up the wiring, and...

    Removing old paint on wire?

Castrol super clean works good on removing overspray on vinyl. I've done it a few times now and i was surprised on how well it worked when i first tried it, and no residue or discoloration.

You can't leave us Dan, i think it's against the law anyway. :D I really like the way you know so much about the electrical ins and outs of our cars, to hell with the old school naysayers. Your credentials speak for themselves. Nobody is particularly wrong here, yes, i know the old school...

    *Potentially* Stupid Question

I've had a few ballast resistors fail and a few control boxes fail. The secret i think is to get good quality parts and keep it stock as well as keep the wires and connections in good shape. Dielectric grease and good grounds go a long way here. If you modify the ignition system, be prepared for...

    Fuel and Temp Gauge Question??

Applying silicone grease to plug boot

It's dielectric grease. apply it to the surfaces as requested as well as the metal ones. It helps prevent corrosion. I've been doing it for years, it also helps with removal at a later date. Just don't go crazy with over lubing it. It works great for all electrical connections that are metal to...

Help Me Find 71 Dart Head Lights!

Dan: So, if i buy the nighthawks do i need to put in relays if i use them? How do i wire them if so? You seem to be the go to guy when it comes to headlights. How about factory wiring issues when it comes to aftermarket headlights? Maybe 100w high beams. I'm thinking of upgrading to good...

Sorry to hear about this..... It kinda makes you wonder what else has been done to the wiring throughout the car. I would go through it completely if it were me. There are a lot of great tech articles at moparactionmagazine.com that deals with the ammeter and other wiring woes as well as...
