    Which of these two fans?

Neither one will work with a clutch drive. Both are direct drive. Clutch drive has a much larger center opening.

Do you put drill a small hole in your thermostat?

I have. Usually I fill the block thru the thermostat port up to point of thermostat. Install thermostat and housing, top hose and finish filling thru radiator. This fills block and radiator up to thermostat.

    Initial startup cooling system troubles

Check trans fluid and oil for water. Personally when I fill an empty cooling system I pull thermostat and fill up to it thru thermostat opening. Install stat and housing with hose then finish filling the radiator. This lets air out of system. Also if it’s warm invest in a thermo gun. I’ve got a...

Not too happy with my fans.....

Is your electrical system up to the task of running the fans? I’m running the contour fans and on hi they’ll stick paper to the grill, but I’ve gotta step my charging system up due to it being more than it can keep up with.

The impossible to solve overheating problem

I’m looking at your pictures, it appears everything is lower than the top hose. It even appears the hose to the surge tank is below that upper hose in height. If that’s the case my suspect would be that you have air trapped in the system and it has no way to burp. Again just by looking at pictures.

can I heat this up without a problem

I used a Dakota digital control mounted inside the car above the drivers side kick panel to control my fans. I used a vdo sender for my vdo gauge and I tied the fan control to that. Anyway the long and short is I installed the sender on the drivers side of the block. There is a drain plug by the...

Another Flatbed Ride for my car today

From what I'm reading you've got two leaks. Most shops I've dealt with in the past would pressure check the radiator in a water tub after working on it. Personally I'd contact whoever did the recore and let them know what you had. Normal coolant temps would not melt the solder. They probably...

    another cooling question

On the block there should be pipe plugs just forward of the center freeze plug. That's where I installed the temp sensor for my after market gauge which also controls my digital fan control.

Why so critical of "universal" flex radiator hoses?

They also load the radiator neck and can cause it to crack. Due to them being so stiff.

    Help! Running hot

Does this only occur at road speeds, in town driving or idling? Do you have the hood to radiator seal installed? Where's your timing sitting at initial and full mechanical advance? Is the car running lean? How do plugs look? What gauge are you measuring by? Not being a butt, there's a whole lot...

    Cooling help needed??

Sounds like the radiator is working. Bottom hose collapsing on itself? Driving at what speeds when temp climbs? Does it warm up sitting in traffic? Remove all water from the block

If you used distilled water, I'd just buy me a couple gallons of straight undiluted anti freeze and mix with the distilled water to get the correct specific gravity for it. Wouldn't worry about draining the system completely. You'll have to have enough coolant in it so you can run it and...

    How hot is hot?

Well I just had to return an oil pressure sending unit (vdo) to summit that was way out of tolerance. Supposed to be 10-180 ohms, was 230 ohms static. Glad I installed a mechanical oil pressure gauge as a backup prior to firing mine up.
