    73 Duster build named Fred

Surprised no comments about the 7.3L Godzilla valvetrain issues. Just had one eat a lifter at 43k...

    This is crazy. Elite Motorsports

Pro Stock uses a 9.5" ring gear, and it ain't crazy if you are Richard Freeman.

Theory about 727 and wheels up launch

Your theory would be correct and being low on fluid I could see the transmission neutralizing.

Let’s have a good track weather (bar, temp, humidity, corrected altitude) discussion

Big blower and a small pulley... As Warren Johnson once said, "Even the birds walk in Denver".

The DA at our track on Sunday was over 10k feet.

    shots from the garage...

Sounds like he made that Camaro better. :D The reality is, that the automatic package super stock and competition eliminator cars all use a version of the torqueflite, whether that is 904 parts in a chrysler 727 case, amc 727 case or gm T350 case.

I would tend to disagree, as every one of my customers that has gone from a 3 speed to a glide have all slowed down. This in 600-750hp, 2800-3200lb combos. Nine times out of ten, a 3 speed will be quicker in a car--unless the car weighs 1800 lbs and makes 1000hp. Notice how I said car and not...

Maximum HP in 904 Transmission With the following parts:

Hi friends, Initially when JoeDust451 called me, I thought he was talking about a 727. I wouldn't really recommend a stock 904 be used behind 600hp. The 727 is a different story, however. It all depends on how much power you make, the weight of the vehicle, and what your goals are with the...

    Another slow 340

Thanks for asking, and thanks to all of you for your great input. I put the MSD 6AL on the car, and it still had a miss or pop at higher RPM. Still no tach yet, but I suspect a weak valve spring. To reiterate, the motor sat on the stand for 10 years, with the valves open .. oops. I got...

    Another slow 340

Jeff, I'll let you know but I don't think I'll be able to make it up there Friday--we'll see. Joe, flyfish, and all, thanks a bunch for your advice, ideas, and opinions. The first fall race is a week from today (Sept. 13). I ordered a 3800-4000 9.5" converter from Lenny @ Ultimate last...

    Another slow 340

Yes sir! The 15.08 was with no track prep, spinning the street tires (275/40/17) for 80 feet, and at 4800 feet elevation--about 6000 ft density altitude that day. Up here we lose .8-1 second of ET opposed to the folks that race at sea level. Even the birds walk, up here. :-D I'm also going...

    Another slow 340

Hello friends! Some may have read about the Leadfoot Rally Duster build here. We put a 340 into a '73 Duster, and it's a pooch. Engine was built 10 years ago, but not wanting to put another motor in the machine shop at the time, we decided to use the 340 for the Leadfoot Rally. When we drag...

    A&A or Griner transbrake?

Been selling and installing A&A valve bodies for close to 10 years. Have had ZERO issues. I dunno how someone determines which one "is best", and certainly just looking at them side by side tells me nothing. I doesn't really mean much to me that one is billet design and the other is not. I...

Joe, Thanks for the kind words, and thanks so much for your business. I'm glad to hear the trans. is working great! :thumbrig:

    Drum explosion...

Very good points, 496dart. However, a bolt-in sprag won't prevent an explosion. We like to upgrade to the 16 element bolt in sprag for better holding power/sprag protection over the 12 element sprag. Along with the low band apply valve body, I'd highly recommend a billet from drum that is...
