Not many pros to trans fluid unless your in a very cold climate or your looking for every last .001. I use Jamie Passion fluid which is like a 5/20 weight in thickness, I hear good things about synchromesh, and redline MTF. Stay away from g5 rear end lube.

i think thats only in cold weather, my 68 manual list 80/90. anyway i use passon fluid in mine, shifts great! not as thick as 80/90 more like a 30W

Drain the old out of the drain plug at bottom, fill at the drain plug about half way up the side passenger side. If that is gl5 oil I would not use it you need manual trans fluid gl4 like redline mt 90

stay away from the GL5, the redline is good i use passon's fluid

I would just use a soft wire wheel or some paper towels soaked in evaporust to clean it up. Then polish it up with fine sand paper or a 3M pad. Only thing that would be bad is if it has deep pits but just surface rust is not a problem.

also make sure your oil pressure sending unit is not leaking

try pep boys and ask for a LUK clutch, i was told buy a trans guy that also does a bunch of Hi perf stuff this is one of the few hi quality clutches for normal driving that you can get with a warranty . If you beat the snot out of it i would call brewers or passon, i have the LUK in my 383 RR...

There are o-rings behind the shift forks, have to remove the cover to get to it, easy. The bottom rod is harder to get to.

Passon trans has a good lube, thicker than ATF not as thick as 80/90

should be fine use a good gl-4 tran fluid that is on the thicker side

i was told by a trans guy that also races a lot of cars "his and other cars that he is hired to race" that for a stock or mild setup go with a LUK clutch, thats what i did on my 68 RR 383 its near stock with just a bit bigger cam, got it from PEP boys for $180 complete with lifetime warranty...

I used Jaime Passon's fluid in my RR, its a bit thinner than 80/90w but not as light as atf, shifts nice.
