Believe it or not, there's different firewalls for A/C & non-A/C! My car was originally an A/C car and I deleted it when I restored it. That's when I learned about the firewalls..... My car was back from being painted and I realized the difference. I wasn't about to re-install the A/C at this...

BTW: What does this Mr. Gasket high flow thermostat look like? Does it have 3 holes around the perimeter of the block-off? I had one of those once and it NEVER opened at highway speeds. Install the stock-type 180 degree and be done with it....

Some people have the blind opinion of BUY AMERICAN even if it's a piece of crap. I work hard for my cash. And I make it on foriegn products. To some people it's a HUGE can of worms..... But you answered with what I really wanted to say.

Word of advice here.... If you do decide to remover the A/C heater box assembly and install a heater box only, the firewalls are different between A/C & non-A/C cars!!!!!!!! The opening for the blower motor and some of the mounting bolts are spaced differently. I installed a non-A/C heater box...

That's alot of work! This is how I solved my A/C to non-A/C set-up: First I mounted my non-A/C heater box to see where I needed to cover up the huge opening.... Then I whipped up a new blower motor surround trim. Here it looks OK without the engine in there. With the engine in you hardly...

I know it's a bit pricey, but the billet housing Macini's sells has been leak-free on my car for about 200 miles now. Granted, it was $35.... but if I don't have to fix it every week it's got to be worth something... :-D

That's one of the few things I did that I didn't photo-document when I did mine... but the job Preston did on his just blows my job away! Beautiful work! The only piece of advice I can offer is if your fresh air doors are sized stiff from rust, drill out the rivets BEFORE you try and loosen them...

I just installed one of the Mancini billet T-stat housings. Nice think flange... I doubt it'll ever leak.
