    Swapping A/C to a non A/C car... and vise-versa

I agree, it was eariser to cover up that to cut. The conversion you posted looks like it worked out good for you. <sigh...> But WHY did they have to use 2 different firewalls?

    Swapping A/C to a non A/C car... and vise-versa

Believe it or not, there's different firewalls for A/C & non-A/C! My car was originally an A/C car and I deleted it when I restored it. That's when I learned about the firewalls..... My car was back from being painted and I realized the difference. I wasn't about to re-install the A/C at this...

is this a good deal or a bad radiator?

I've been searching for a quality aluminum radiator myself. I'm looking for one that will bolt-in, without me having to carve-up my freshly restored car (yeah, I'm being whiny....) One of our members Ken (OCDART) is in contact with a supplier that's just finishing up R&D on a true drop-in...

    22" Aluminum Radiators

I found this today.... a new version of those aluminum radiators for A bodies. Yup, new 22" direct replacement aluminum radiators for our beloved little money pits.... If it's possible, punch in this number on e-Bay and see the auction/ad. Not cheap either..... 300336414874 And mine is...

    Cooling Capers...

This car is making me nuttier than a Squirrel turd. So I buy the too big aluminum radiator that I sent back.... :angry7: Then I order a re-production from Year One, only to find out that I might not see it until AUGUST! And the factory shroud will NOT fit! :angry7: Then I find out that...

    A Body Radiator Interchangeability

Believe me Redfish, my car is FAR from "correct", but the 26"-er was just too big. Not to mention I have a $150 shroud I just bought. I know the longer I search, the longer I won't be driving my car. The recovery tank is aftermarket, but I need it. I'll have my radiator repaired (again....) and...

    A Body Radiator Interchangeability

I have one of the newest versions of that shroud. We'll see how long it lasts. As for the 26" radiator, it fills the radiator support from frame rail to frame rail, leaving no room for my recovery tank. Plus a good portion of that core is blocked by the support. Cutting my freshly painted and...

    A Body Radiator Interchangeability

Wow Edbux, thanks for the positive comment! Next time I'm gonna do something I'll consult with you, the physics major! Yeah, I made a mistake (apparently un-common with some members....) and I fessed-up to it. Ledfootracing took it back with no drama at all. Unfortunately they do not sell a 22"...

    A Body Radiator Interchangeability

Time for reality to smack me in da face..... Damn radiator don't fit. As posted, it's 26" wide as my stocker is 22". And the shroud comes NOWHERE near fitting. But it was "only" $240 shipped to my door. LEDFOOTRACING get's an e-mail. Let's see how this works out. Here we go with the...

    Running Hot on the Highway

BTW: What does this Mr. Gasket high flow thermostat look like? Does it have 3 holes around the perimeter of the block-off? I had one of those once and it NEVER opened at highway speeds. Install the stock-type 180 degree and be done with it....

    A Body Radiator Interchangeability

I just picked up a 3 row aluminum radiator off of e-Bay from a seller by the name of LEDFOOTRACING. It's aboslutely beautiful, fully garranteed, and more then half the price of the Mancici's piece shipped to my door. It's all welded and has the factory mounting ears and provision for installing...

    Running Hot on the Highway

In your original post you mention that the engine has 500 miles on it so far. Has the overheat issue been there since day 1? If so, here's a few thoughts as I just went through a strange overheat situation at work. First of all, did you properly bled the cooling system when you filled it? An...

    Thoughts/Opinions?

Some people have the blind opinion of BUY AMERICAN even if it's a piece of crap. I work hard for my cash. And I make it on foriegn products. To some people it's a HUGE can of worms..... But you answered with what I really wanted to say.

    Thoughts/Opinions?

I hate to open THIS can of worms, but.... I've been a foriegn car Tech all my life. I started with Porsche-Audi and after 10 yrs. I joined Infiniti in the early 90's, then switched over to Nissan for the last 8 yrs. and watched the product go from made in Japan to made in Tennessee. I now work...

    Thoughts/Opinions?

Actually, I do have a leak between the radiator & trans cooler (my car WAS an auto...) that I installed plugs in the cooler line openings as a temporary repair. Besides, I can flip my "numbers matching" 340 radiator on e-Bay as a repairable item to off-set the expense. 8) I don't care if it was...

    A/C Removed...now what?

Word of advice here.... If you do decide to remover the A/C heater box assembly and install a heater box only, the firewalls are different between A/C & non-A/C cars!!!!!!!! The opening for the blower motor and some of the mounting bolts are spaced differently. I installed a non-A/C heater box...

Interesting update on "crappy" repro fan shrouds

Wow, mine cracked within a week of getting my car running last fall! I think I may have to look into a replacement too. I bought mine from Mancini's. Thanks for all the info guys!

    AC to Non AC heater

That's alot of work! This is how I solved my A/C to non-A/C set-up: First I mounted my non-A/C heater box to see where I needed to cover up the huge opening.... Then I whipped up a new blower motor surround trim. Here it looks OK without the engine in there. With the engine in you hardly...

whats the deal with mopar thermostat housings?

I know it's a bit pricey, but the billet housing Macini's sells has been leak-free on my car for about 200 miles now. Granted, it was $35.... but if I don't have to fix it every week it's got to be worth something... :-D

    Here we go... again.

The fan shroud has me really cranked-off.... Bad enough I'll have to fabricate a new one for the aluminum radiator, but I can't even sell the old one!!!!!!!!!! <Damn-it!> :angry7:

    Here we go... again.

I went out to the garage the other day and was greeted with a trail of coolant from under the car. Damn radiator finally let go. I also found someone on Craigslist with an aluminum radiator for sale in my neighborhood. Here we go.... :toothy10: BTW: That $150 fan shroud from Mancini's...

Any good Heater Box Rebuild write-ups?

That's one of the few things I did that I didn't photo-document when I did mine... but the job Preston did on his just blows my job away! Beautiful work! The only piece of advice I can offer is if your fresh air doors are sized stiff from rust, drill out the rivets BEFORE you try and loosen them...

Fix for leaking chrome T-stat and valve covers.

I just installed one of the Mancini billet T-stat housings. Nice think flange... I doubt it'll ever leak.
