    throttle cable problems

I'm with SlantSixDan. Check to see if there's a provision for altering the length of the linkage on the carb or the pedal pivot. If not, go with Chris' suggestion of adjusting it at full throttle to prevent pulling anything apart.

Problem with a new 6 PACK

To check to see if those end carbs are opening place a small clip on the vacuum pull linkage (nothing too tight...just want it to clamp lightly) against the vacuum pod on the end carbs and go for a ride. After a full throttle pull shut it off and check to see if the clips slide down the pull...

    six pack expert wanted..???

I added a Power Valve Saver to my center carb. They are easy to find on e-Bay (or Jegs, Summit,etc...) and require you drill a small hole and add a spring w/block off plate. It cost under $10 and saves you the aggravation of replacing those PV's when they rip. You have to remove that center carb...

    Fuel Fluke

Sorry for not getting back to you after your PM but I was at work when I opened it and I was busy last night. The routing of the fuel line, and the addition of the electric pump, was an interesting problem/solution on the previous owners part. I'm glad to see everyone step up and offer sound...

    First break down(s)

If it's a slant 6 you have a bit of a hassle, if it's a V-8 it's a little easier. That is, IF it's your fuel pump..... Your best bet is to try and duplicate the problem and check for spark first. Those damn ballast resistors go bad and can cause this problem (it's that white ceramic thing on...

    Fuel Pump Mounting

I installed a sump..... And fabricated a mount for my filter & pump.... And installed in on the right side trunk extension.... With a shield so the tire doesn't kick anything into the pump or filter... It's all rubber mounted, but you can still hear it a bit. The feed is almost...

    Gas Tank Straps Question

While I'm assembling my car I went over-kill on a few things becasue I might get crazy later on and I didn't want to replace stuff I replaced already. For example, the sump has 1/2" openings (-8 AN) where I could have gone with 3/8" (-6 AN) which is what the rest of my system is plumbed as. I...

    Gas Tank Straps Question

You want to have a constant supply of fuel under hard accelleration, such as when you launch at the strip. Before the sump is soldered to the tank you drill several large holes throught the bottom of the tank to fill the sump portion. That's why there's a fuel feed line coming off of the sump...

    Gas Tank Straps Question

The tank I picked up on e-Bay a while ago. I don't remember from who... They are on there often, so it's not hard to find. The sump is from JEGS and that was about $60. THEN another $75 to have it professionally installed by a trusted radiator shop out here on Long Island. I finished it off with...

    Gas Tank Straps Question

Nah... no clear coat here. The paint I used is sold by Krylon and it's marketed as outdoor patio furniture paint. It's designed to stand-up against the elements. It's also a hammer-tone effect that looks rather nice. I just got back from the house where I store the car and DAMN... it's a cold...

    Gas Tank Straps Question

I wouldn't draw them all the way! You'll crush the tank. I tighened mine until they were nice and snug, then I hit it with *maybe* 2-3 turns more. I also placed a piece of FatMat across the top of the tank to insulate the metal-to-metal contact to prevent gouging or scoring. I cut...

    Six pack questions.

Just like a properly tuned 4 Bbl. a properly set-up 6 Bbl. can be made to work very nicely. I hadn't yet installed the front carb's vacumn pot. I don't know if the ProMax pieces will work on the GM version of the Holleys. I know the carb's will physcially bolt onto the Mopar manifold, but as...

    Six pack questions.

I saw this post over at MoParts where you got some good information, some of which I'll repeat here. Those appear to be Chevy carbs due to the fuel inlet is on the drivers side. No vacumn secondary means a brutal transition from fast to hang on for dear life. And those air cleaners: unless you...

    Fuel Filter Advice

I was leaning toward a small compact filter and this seals the deal. I was going to run a Fram canister filter, but where I'm mounting everything it would hang down below the edge of the R/R quarter panel and be visible. I fabbed up a bullet-proof fuel pump mount and it tucks in nice and tightly...

    Fuel Filter Advice

I'm shopping for a fuel filter so I can finish plumbing the system. I'm looking for a quality remote filter with a servicable filter element. What do you recommend? I have a -8 line from my sump that will go to the filter, then to the pump and so on....Holley Blue pump, modified 6 Bbl. set-up...

    Fuel Sump

I installed a Jegs sump in my fuel tank for possible future performance un-grades. It has 2 ports, but I need just the 1 for now. To plug the unused port do I need a tapered pipe plug, or a cap with either an O ring or gasket to seal it? I just want to buy the right thing the first time. What I...

    Six pack carb mods

While I have some answers, there's a whole lot more I don't know. I'll hit you with what I have. The replacement Holley carbs don't have the power valve saver built in. I just installed one in my center carb recently. The original base plates have idle screws behind the lead plugs in the...

    6 pack

Aside froim the WOW factor (which IS cool...) you have to remember this: Make sure your pointed where you wanna be when those end carbs open up. Things tend to wizz by pretty quickly. I too went for the full-boogie Pro-Max modifications. We'll see (one of these days...) how all that money...

    In-Line Fuel Filter

Wow, thanks for the reply! Out of all the tips you offered I think my only weak point must just be the pump itself! I have a slightly warmed-over 360 w/ Edlebrock heads, .488/.491 cam, TTI's, MSD ignition , 6 Bbl. and a Holley RED pump. The copper drain plug is temporary. I didn't want to...
