WANTED: Small TRW Power Steering Reservoir

Just started to rebuild my brother's power steering pump when I noticed that the reservoir housing is crushed under the bracket. Looks like somebody used a pry bar to tension the belt. This a small TRW pump with the solid pump shaft.

    Steering Pump Shaft Repair Sleeve

I'm getting ready to rebuild a Federal style power steering pump. I suspect that the pump shaft has a wear ring at the front seal. Does anybody know if there is a Speedi-Sleeve available for a quick repair? I've had great success with these on differential pinion seal leaks.

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

I started with the front adjuster all the way out and the rear all the way in. Since I had postive camber, I only adjusted the front to get -0.5* camber. At that setting I'm getting 0* caster on the left and -1.2 on the right. I did not roll the car onto the plates. I understand why I need to do...

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

OK gang here is the latest on my DIY front end alignment. My day started off by fabricating turn plates to determine my caster after camber was dialed in. I made the plates from 1/4" steel on the bottom and 1/8" steel on the top. Did a little welding for the pivot point and my handles. The top...

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

OK gang. I removed the bushings and installed them correctly. The front adjuster was turned to move the front of the control arm out and the read adjuster was rotated to move the rear of the arm inward.I lowered the car and did a quick camber measurement. I was disappointed to see that both...

By George! I think I've got it! Thanks everyone for your help. I'll get the bushings installed correctly and then make myself a pair of turn plates and be done with this alignment stuff.

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

Ok. I think I have a grip on this. When I install the bushings correctly, I will effectively be lengthening the front of the Control arm and shortening the rear arm.

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

I'm sorry that I'm having difficulty with this concept. Isn't the first picture, right front, showing that the offset is moving the control arm out towards the fender? The offset on the right rear would move the control arm inward towards the engine.

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

Spent some time Saturday working on the control arms. I just wanted to post pics to make sure that the bushings are installed correctly this time. Right front:

I feel pretty stupid about this but I'm glad that I decided to align the car at home rather than take it to a shop. Live and learn!

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

Had a chance to remove my upper control arm today. It looks like I Installed the offset bushings bass ackwards! I just took off the right side today. I will take off the left side tomorrow. I feel pretty stupid but at least I can fix the problem. I suspect that the left side will look just the...

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

I guess that I could unbolt the upper control arm and post pics of what the bushings position looks like. Will I need to pop the upper ball joint?

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

I installed them a long time ago but I specifically followed instructions on FABO and to the best of my knowledge put them in as per recommendations and not the box instructions.

    DIY Front Alignment Troubles

I did a lot of thread searching on A body alignment and decided that I wanted to do the job myself on the Duster. Had the day off today and started in on the task. The front suspension has been completely redone. I installed offset bushings during the rebuild. I set the front cam all the way...

1970 Duster Steering Column Install Help

Thanks RedFish. I have a retaining clamp to put on after the column is installed. I also went ahead and ordered a new upper bearing yesterday. It was in pretty good shape when I worked on the column before but I'm sure it's trashed now.

1970 Duster Steering Column Install Help

I worked on the steering column the other night. I compared pics of the lower end at the steering box attachment before I removed it with how the lower shaft looks now. It was collapsed! I have no idea how it happened but it did. I was able to get the lower part of the shaft out to length but it...

1970 Duster Steering Column Install Help

The reason I'm wondering about the lower mounting plate position is that I removed the steering column for this car myself. Length was not a problem when it was in the car. During my restoration of the column, I was careful not to hammer on the shaft.

1970 Duster Steering Column Install Help

I tried to install my steering column last night but I was not able to get the coupler to reach the steering box. I tried to pull on the steering shaft to see if it was collapsed but there was no movement. Everything looked intact when I had assembled the column. This is the original steering...

Sway bar bushing install help needed.

Before I had my welder, I used the technique described by macmic87 in this Moparts thread. It worked for me without having to cut the brackets. http://board.moparts.org/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/ubb/showflat/Number/7697618/site_id/1#import
