Also check the cam timing , the chain may be stretched . Thus retarding the timing and causing a rough idle. Remove the distributor cap and watch the rotor as you move the crankshaft clockwise until the rotor starts to move then rotate the crank counter clock wise and note how far it moves...

I don't think it ever made production. It would have to have a different head to mate to. What you all have seen , touched or owned is one of two early and late valve covers ever in production. Not counting aftermarket valve covers.

Remount the engine so it is closer to the floor. i.e. the crank shaft is lower then the center of the engine stand.

If the VR has a painted case, remove the paint on the back side at the bolt hole. If its got a chrome case be sure the surface is clean of clear coat or the firewall of paint. Use star washers on the mounting bolts. Holes on firewall stripped ? Punch (not drill) new starter holes (ice pick)...

Confirm the timing. Pull the #1 spark plug, bring the crank around to get to top dead center on compression, see timing mark, pull the distributer cap and check that the rotor is pointed to the #1 lug on the cap. If not, the cam timing has slipped at the timing chain or the dist. gear has...

I doubt anything at this point in time. They were most likely producing engines for Chrysler for the South American market back in the day. The one pictured above appears to be a stock \6 head for the South American market. The only difference I see is the use of studs for the rock arm shaft...
