creaking and other stuff going on....

From that explanation, it sounds like a bad or worn out control arm bushing. That could also change the camber which would explain the tire wear pattern.

Big Block Abody with factory front suspension

Sounds like an alignment problem from here. What size torsion bars are in it? I have the 1" bars, manual steering and a 440 and the car handles great with the skinny bias ply front tires. It's no Corvette in the corners, but more than comfortable driven normally on the street. George

    Some alignment help needed please.

Does the car have power steering? If the car is still pulling to one side, the power steering controll valve may not be centered. Dustya 383 knows what he's talking about. Follow all his advice before setting the alignment, and also be sure the tire pressure is the same on both front tires. I...

HELP! Removed lower ball joint without supporting control arm!

Just loosten the torsion bar adjuster all the way. It will then be loose enough where you can jack the lower arm up into place. You may have ruined the threaded stud of the ball joint when it came apart. Check it out first. George

A Body upper controll arm problem/question

I never knew that. Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. Well, changing the caster/camber on the opposite side would, to some degree at least, eliminate the pull, but the problem would still remain that the tires would wear out pretty quickly. Right now I can see the inside edge of the R/S tire...

A Body upper controll arm problem/question

I thought about that myself, Geo. I looked at the new A arm (it's still in the car so it's hard to tell) but it looked OK to me. The front end on this thing is so full of grease I had to use a wire brush to get it to where I wouldn't be totally black from crud after working on it! LOL I'm...

A Body upper controll arm problem/question

Kyle, Thanks for that information. We probably won't be able to measure his car until Friday after work, or Saturday morning, but from what I remember, that might just do the trick. I'll definately let you know by Saturday afternoon. Will we be able to use his existing ball joints in these...

A Body upper controll arm problem/question

Kyle, that would be tremendously appreciated! Please let me know that dimension when you get time. Ya know what, if the cost is affordable, I'll buy him the one for the other side. He's done a lot for me in the past as well. George

A Body upper controll arm problem/question

I've been looking on the net, but didn't find anything......does anyone make an offset upper ball joint? That would probably do it too. George

A Body upper controll arm problem/question

Thanks for the responses. I don't know what it would cost to have the car put on a frame machine (or where a frame machine is located) but I doubt he would be able to afford it. Besides, it's his only car and without it he won't be able to get to work without depending on someone else to pick...

A Body upper controll arm problem/question

I work with a guy who drives a 71 Ply Duster daily. Its pretty beat up, but he has a short commute to work, and it runs good. Slant 6 automatic. Problem is, a few years ago it was hit on the right front fender by a lady who backed out of her driveway just as this guy was driving by. The...

    XHD leaf springs,rant

Snake, I have Super Stock springs on my 69 and the car sits pretty level. It's a HAIR higher on the pass side, but not enough to notice. If the spring deal is too much of a pain in the ***, just use a 1" longer shackel. I bought the long ones with 3 different location holes, and I cut the rest...

Am I blind?? Sway bar bushings???

I went through this with my gold 69 340 Swinger, and after all the bull-crap, I just masked them off and sprayed the bar with clearcoat. The bar (for a restoration) should be "as forged" showing slag from the heat process anyway. So all I did was strip off all the grease & crud, and used a satin...

    Power Steering Return Valve

After you install that piece, you'll likely have to "center it" or your steering will pull to one side or the other. Loosten the retaining bolts slightly, jack up the front of the car so both wheels are off the ground, start the engine. Watch the steering wheel so see if it moves right or left...

440 with slant 6 torsion bars

I picked up a set of 1" bars from eBarf like Joe mentioned when they were on sale for $159. They're under my 69 Dart with 440/833. I finally got plates for the car this week and have been driving it all around and they feel great. They do not ride hard at all, and the car stays pretty level in...

Power steering questions - 68 Dart

The play should go away, or at least lessen a great degree once there is pressure in the system. Is the play visible at the center link or at the box itself? Good Luck, George

loping, grinding sound form the body?!

Its probably the steering stops. Just put some grease on the lower control arm where it makes contact with the steering arm bolts at full turn on each side. It might help. George

K7103 Offset Upper Control Arm Bushings

No, still mocking the car up. The car was hit on the pass side many years ago. It was hit right on the R/F tire, which pushed the frame rail in, as well as up. I made templates from a known good frame, and I cut, straightened, welded and strengthened the area. Upon reassembly, I see that I...

K7103 Offset Upper Control Arm Bushings

top Does anyone know the offset compared to stock? In other words, if the bolt hole in the stock bushing is centered, how far off center is the bolt hole in the offset bushing? I'm just trying to see if these bushings will fix my problem, or if I need to go another route. I will be able to tell...
