    Aftermarket Coolant Overflow Tank

Just tucked my moroso can out of sight next to the radiator

    Thermostat temperatures

160* is too cold in my opinion. 180* is what I use. Feel the engine runs best at that temp, warm enough to let things run right. But on cool days I run 165*-170* with the 180* stat 195* is a little too warm for me, but is probably the factory replacement. Better for cooler climates, good for...

    help cooling

I saw zero temperature change going from straight distilled water to 50/50. Runs just the same. I have a black alum radiator and HHR electric fan setup, so im not much help. 180 'hi flow' stat with a cavitation plate on a stock water pump

    Heater Line Disconnect.....

Dont think there is much of a benefit to it. Been running mine plugged off for three years with no issues

    Heater Line Disconnect.....

I tapped the heater line take off on the water pump and stuck a plug in it, and also plugged my intake with a 3/8" plug. No looped hoses or hose clamps, just plain deleted. Can be reversed if the need be

    what degree thermastat

    I run a 180* here

    Electric fan

Yep, on my taurus fan for my pickup, i used two 70amp relays. Killer sized ones from the junkyard.

    Electric fan

my cuda has a single speed fan hooked to a t-stat switch. 2speed ranger fan is hooked to a t-stat for low and the a/c for high speed. you could get two temp sensors, probably three relays to get it to function on 2 speed correctly. you dont want power to the high and low windings at the same...

    Electric fan

Ford taurus fan works well too. it is also a 2speed, flows great. i have one on my ranger pickup. My cuda is running a single speed HHR fan which also, no complaints. Some awesome junkyard fans to be had! Make sure you wire them on relays

    318 operating temp

should be okay. i run 180* all day with my 318 with a 180stat. Usually you shouldn't be running much over your tstat rating however. so i'd just make sure all is cleaned out and tidy

Plugging the by-pass hose pros and cons

I agree on that, I would still run it. At the very least have some holes in the t-stat, or maybe run the line that goes to the heater core into the intake manifold?

    lossin antifreeze

Not sure what that sentance means. Its leaking? Where?
  13. G

    lossin antifreeze

is it leaking anywhere? any water in the oil? carpet wet? it could just be an air pocket from the thermostat being closed when you did the service

    Radiator cap

Prolly got a plymouth engine in that dodge :D
  15. G

    Radiator cap

Every pound is 3*F...more like 9*. If he ran NO radiator cap he would lower his boiling point 48* anyway (16lb).

    Radiator cap

just got a stock replacement style, they should be able to look it up. 16psi.

    huges 8 blade water pump

it alllllll adds up. Put it twords the first oil change you do right after you fire that engine up, rather than wasting it on a water pump that wont be any better than a stocker. I run a stocker with a cavitation plate on it, haven't gotten any hotter than 195 in BLAZING hot temps with my setup...

    huges 8 blade water pump

Just run a stock one. No need to waste money.

    Universal Radiator Installation

oh the brackets are aluminum built by be-cool, says in the summit catalog 'for 22" chysler openings' or something. Had a local metal shop weld those in there, and also installed a petcock at the bottom

    Universal Radiator Installation

This is my setup. Summit radiator.

    spark plugs

Plugs sound like the least of your problems. How is your cooling system? mechanical fan? shrouded? radiator? t-stat/temp range? good cap?

    What's too hot?

195 is fine. The factory t-stat for these cars were 195* anyway.

    clutch fan vs standard fan

No reason to toss that idea out. my 2005 truck has a clutch fan, so they aren't obsolete. Any fan can go. .02
  25. G

    clutch fan vs standard fan

:toothy7: Not sure if the spacing would work on an a-body. mine works fine.
  26. G

    clutch fan vs standard fan

Flex fans also can zing a blade through the hood. Motor mount could go and a fixed fan could eat the shroud and then some. Something can always happen on a failure. Water pump can go with any fan and toss a fan through the radiator. I personally wouldn't run a flex fan if i planned on being...

    A/C Compressor Oil

Not too familiar with old chrysler compressors, but usually the oil is filled with a refrigerant charge since it flows through the system with the refrigerant. I believe mineral a/c system oil is for R12. PAG for R134A if its been converted. Oil that will work with either system is 'Ester' oil...

    clutch fan vs standard fan

Just in my opinion Standard Fan -Pros over Clutch - Nothing much, cheaper maybe. -Cons over Clutch - Direct drive from the engine. From idle to 6000rpm. More load on the engine = robs more power. Clutch -Pros over Std - Fan drive is varied by engine temp (cooler the temps, more the fan...

    ? about coolent recovery

Yup, my Moroso catch can has a little hole in the top of it. Can't tell you my drill sizes too well, probably the diameter of a hanger. lol :D Also if you guys plumb the line from the radiator to the BOTTOM of the catch can, it will recover and recirculate any coolant your system pukes...

    ? about coolent recovery

thermostat swap wont help, it needs to be vented too. make sure your cap is working properly as well.
