    383 vs 360 in an A 68 Cuda

I think you pretty much nailed it. I originally acquired this 23K mile Duster from my buddy HemiMark who was on the verge of trading it for a truck. No plans, just did not want to let it get away. When my 70's street racing buddy learned I had the car, he ask me if i would sell it to him. I...

    383 vs 360 in an A 68 Cuda

not a shoehorn....all kinds of room on a low-deck big block. This one has OEM K and manual steering, Schumacher conversion mounts, 833 / 4-speed, TTi exhaust. the only mod was the #7 primary header tube need modified (cut and slightly moved) for clutch shaft clearance. Since this build about...

    Starting a BB Duster project

Thanks for the reply. I agree, most people would not take apart the SS springs, but maybe because they are available in different spring rates, simply buy what they feel will work best, ride height wise. My thinking, and I could be wrong (ask my wife) is that if I wanted the rear to sit lower, I...

    Starting a BB Duster project

Hi Andy, Just curious, since this car will see a lot of street use, in the categories of ride vs traction, what do you think of the Calvert system vs a set of Mopar Super Stock springs. Not from personal experience, but I have read the Calvert system was a little hash on the street. And to...

Well the project has just taken a real turn....

On the economy route.... Elephant ears place the Hemi right where it needs to be for Hemi TTi headers / OEM suspension/steering. Simply follow their directions...with pictures for most of us. Offset master cylinder mount a must. Notch the K for oil pan clearance like most big block builds...

How far over on a 440?

when i doubt....I believe the block can be sonic tested to determine if the cylinder bores possibly shifted during casting causing thin spots and can help determine the thickness of the cylinder walls

    FENDERWELL HEADERS

While the 67-76 As have a longer engine bay / fenderwell, it still isn't big enough to allow for 4 tubes and a decent size tire. Fenderwell headers fail the basics of performance header construction. 1) equal length primaries 2) primaries not exceeding 36" Just my opion....others may vary.

Help me ease the pain in my right hip - please!

there can be..... I make the A/C brackets for the B/RB to compliment the HDK .....I will be making small block ones also.

Help me ease the pain in my right hip - please!

on Hemis....but it is the same for any B /RB I have done several power rack and pinion conversions with A/C (compressor down low by the oil pump) and P/S (compact pump mounted above the A/C compressor) with March 2 groove v-belt pulleys....std drive to keep the water pump spinning at the...

    Starting a BB Duster project

with the motor plate I am surprised you did not pull the column and torsion bars....then drop the K down to slip them in from the bottom. be almost like the guys with those funky coilover /rack front ends.

    A body weight ?

If memory serves, the silver Duster w/Hemi, 4-speed, gear vendor, A/C weighed in at 3265.....almost full tank of fuel. All steel Duster with aluminum intense drive train....coffee getter.

    440/4 speed install, which method?

    440/4 speed install, which method?

#4...by all means. It is NOT difficult, and in reality, it how how the factory did it. I have done dozens this way for decades....mostly Hemis in 67-76 A bodies, preferably by myself. Make it easy on yourself and pull the steering column out of the motor bay. The master cylinder and brake...

    Anyone tried this windage tray?

I have used several, #1....windage tray and upper/lower gaskets....all in one #2....reusable #3.... because they have small sleeves, and the gasket is part of the tray, there is no squish out when you tightened it down. I do add a full standard composite pan gasket between the block and the...

Motor plate & mid plate... any photos?

The Leal / California Flash/ Hemi Duster has both....elephant ears and mid plate. I am with the understanding the mid plate was critical to speed up removal of the transmission / clutch / flywheel for service. The mid plate mounting pieces pictured attach to brackets added to the block scatter...

    440 troubles

I would take it to small claims....no lawyer bill. Just plead your case. Most small claim courts limit the amount you can recover....maybe $2500. check with your local govt. At least you have a shot.....take a chance, Columbus did.

Show Your Big Block A body!

I place the rear wheels on 6" ramps....only need the front 30" high to get my assembled Hemi (minus valve covers and carb), transmission, and GV under the chassis. Started installing from the bottom in the early 90's after noticing in a photo that is it was the way it was done at the factory.

    Tight fit

Hemi Mark has one also, called for a rebuild on his 4-speed and ended up with a new 5-speed......I think if anyone has the money, they can own one too.

what is a good radiator to use?

I am a fan of the Griffin direct fit with shoud mounts. Paint it radiator black, bolt up the shoud, and it looks like a factory piece. For the big block/A body application, I like the 26" wide Cuda radiator because the inlet /outlets are on the correct side for the aftermarket and most factory...
