Don't toss that ball & trunion main shaft please! Some of us are still using them!!! ;-)

You can cut off the little tits, nubs or whatever you wanna call the of the (should be steel) shift forks & then use then in the early detent side cover. 1-2 syncro assembly should swap to up date old style 1-2 syncro assembly.

If your current 68 has a 904 transmission the shaft should be the correct length fot the 4-speed. But will need the yoke for the 4-speed put on it though. Yes you will need smallblock bell for a car & flywheel to match. None of the linkages from the slant 6 will work with v8 eather.

No pop at clutch shop. It will not ever pop unless engine is revved up to 2000-on up. Yes it does have .060 gap when fully released. When laying under car my son will rev motor till 2500-3000 rpm & it will push back the release bearing hard & make kind of a quiter pop/snap. Let it retun to idle...
