Hilborn Fuel injection - small block Mopar

Yea I know, but would cost as much as I have in the Colt just to buy the engine! There was a Weslake engine just a few years ago, went for like 3 or 4 thousand if I remember correctly.

afb 1407 bog finally gone! get out the tiny drill bits. And a tuning question

Good to hear somebody tuning a Carter. I had tried an AVS on the Colt, but wasn't having much luck. Where it you find or purchase your numbered drill set?

    CARTER AVS Questions

That is what is in it now. 16-176, and .089 jets. I think the idle transfer slots need some attention.

Found this today in the 1967 Dodge FSM. Called 2 step pistons with 3 step rod. Domed covers. AFB carb.

    CARTER AVS Questions

You don't believe the factory service manual pictures I posted? I don't have any original 1970 carbs and never had to look at. But both Hemi and Wedges show a new changed design in the 1970 FSM. I am trying to tune an AVS on a drag motor with a big cam.

    CARTER AVS Questions

I found an error! The 16-217 is listed twice with different numbers. I wonder who at CARTER I should contact to get them to fix it!?!?!?!

    CARTER AVS Questions

Yes, that is the point I was trying to make! 2 step rods on both the Hemi AFB's and the AVS on the wedges. 1970 Plymouth FSM. So we can't say that the 3 step is used in all the applications. All my rods are the same length. 4 have bends at the top, 2 are gentle bends.

    CARTER AVS Questions

That will be a lot of help! I pulled this from the 1970 Plymouth FSM. Both AVS and AFB use a new 2 step metering rods! I posted the AFB section because the paragraph was easy to copy, but both are the same.

    CARTER AVS Questions

So far I have located 5 different 3 step rods. 16-160 16-161 16-165 16-176 16-216 I have been using my micrometer, but I am sure I have some scatter in my measurements. I read that Carter held them to .0002 during manufacture. I am still looking for a chart with the rod info if anyone has something.

    CARTER AVS Questions

The 2 step rods are what are being sold today. I was looking for a chart and a source for 3 step rods. I have maybe 3 sets of 3 steps. I really need to buy some small drill bits to measure some of the jets I have. The numbers on some can not be read. Looks like the spring set can be purchased...

    CARTER AVS Questions

Thanks, I don't want to even look at TQ stuff, too confusing at this point! Why do GM and the new Edelbrock Metering Rods have 2 steps vs. the Mopar 3 steps? And today, getting some jets out of parts carbs I have even more Part Numbers. I took jets out of a couple of carbs with 120-194 part...

    CARTER AVS Questions

I am getting educated on the AVS. Some Edelbrock parts seem to be usable. Springs and main jets for sure. However my AVS, 68 340, 4425S, has tall secondary jets. And it has 3 stage metering rods. Anyone have any detail part numbers info on the Carter AVS. And does anyone have any AVS jets or...

Hey, that helps a lot. Going to run it on another application. Thanks.

    Is anyone running a 4425S Carter on a 68 340 engine?

I have one I am looking at using and I notice it only has 1 idle circuit screw. There are 2 small holes below a couple of capped passages that don't look used. Just wondering if it's stock or am I missing some parts. Thanks for any info.

Should there be something between gas tank and trunk floor? On the straps?

There is the mat above the tank and the floor, but I used a teflon tape the same width as my straps between the strap and the tank. It's not the white pipe tape, but a fiber type, very strong and wear resistant. It is a product used on helicopters between removable panels to keep wear down as...

2x2 barrel set up slant six

Lots of gas and air to run through a 1 barrel hole if that is what was done. A 2 barrel intake would be better, but still a lot. Coolest one I ever saw was an Offy 2 X 1 barrel system with a six pack air cleaner setup. To me that was cool and creative.
