Hi guys! decided to go to electric fan and worried about my alternator. Currently have a NAPA rebuilt that I bought for a 71 Dart with A/C. Don't have A/C, but run an in tank fuel pump. No fancy stereo, no power anything. The fan I'm looking at draws 25 amps. So...... will my current alt be enough?

Lots of help! Pic 2 above is exactly what's on the spade connector closest to the main "hot" post on my alt. Same colors too. I'm running a FAST box with 2 step and MSD distrib and coil. Factory stuff loooooong gone. Although I still have it all, somewhere.

I get the feeling pic number 2 is what I'm dealing with. I got the car in 2008 and all this was done already. I'd like to know for sure but don't want to hack in to my harness. It's all still fairly tidy. How do guys convert to 1 wire alternators?

Thanks, kuda. I guess I certainly don't need that 3rd wire plugged in then. No more ballast resistor. There's actually 2 wires connected to the regulator spade. Does that sound right?

My 71 Demon has 3 wire connections and was hoping someone could help me . Of course the main hot post, then there are 2 smaller spade connections. I THINK one goes to my voltage regulator. The other one, I have no idea what it's for. I no longer have a ballast resistor or the factory ignition...

No no no W2. Indy/RHS. Stock type LA. QT and block plate yes. They are stepped. There's where the difference is. I didn't see you were running W2's. I thought they were the same design with just the flange different. ...

Here you go Chris. About the best I could do underhood....I can tell ya I have at least a quarter inch everywhere. Maybe header part number is different.... not sure. Hope these help a little.

Well couple days after my original post, I had a hot no start issue......got it running and limped home. Fired up the next day popping and pretty much undriveable. Didn't do a damn thing except order this HI 6 DSR from FAST. Took a couple afternoons to get everything as neat as I could...

I run a QT. TTI steps, in Demon with the 92 Dakota starter. Tubes aren't even close. I can shoot some pics tomorrow if ya need them.

Geez.... No. It's wired exactly like it's supposed to be. It's so simple a child could wire it. You sound a little like MSD repair department... It's got some internal problem, obviously. It's been like this since 2010. Thankfully it hasn't found a ground yet..

Plenty of Crane boxes on Ebay, not much description-wise. I need one that will work with my MSD billet distrib, which is still working fine. Not much there to go wrong......timing locked, just a magnetic pick up. Gotta do me some research. Again.

had luck with them for many years, but it's time for a change. trying to find SOMETHING comparable to my Digital 6AL, but not much luck. I'm guessing Crane quit the ignition business. Mallory is now MSD... I found a company called Speedmaster and this one...is this MSD, too...

No wiring issue with the car, dude. Hot goes straight to battery. Like it's supposed to. MSD seemed to be familiar with the issue. 6 year old box they offer to fix free.....if I pay shipping, of course. I'll run it the rest of the year. Not sure yet which way I'm going to go. Not many choices.

Mine is a Digital 6 AL. Far as I have heard, it was the older 6AL.
